James Van Der Beek recently revealed that he is selling off items associated with his popular projects, such as Varsity Blues and Dawson’s Creek. The actor himself confirmed this in an interview with People Magazine published on November 11, 2025, with the auction house, Propstore's involvement. This auction will help the 48-year-old Van Der Beek cover the cost of his colorectal cancer treatment.
The actor revealed a colorectal cancer diagnosis to People Magazine last year in November 2024. A year ago, James Van Der Beek told People Magazine this:
"I have colorectal cancer. I’ve been privately dealing with this diagnosis and have been taking steps to resolve it, with the support of my incredible family. There’s reason for optimism, and I’m feeling good."
You can buy the props associated with James Van Der Beek's characters in Dawson’s Creek and Varsity Blues:
You can purchase props like the flannel shirt that Van Der Beek's character, Dawson Leery, wore in the iconic show Dawson's Creek. Other than the iconic shirt, you can even purchase the necklace that James Van Der Beek's Dawson gifted Katie Holmes' Joey for prom. The necklace prop will be sold somewhere between $26,400 and $52,800. Meanwhile, Dawson's pilot outfit will be sold for approximately $4,000.
The auction promises the fans that they can own set items, wardrobes, and props associated with James Van Der Beek's characters throughout his career. Apart from Dawson's Creek, Van Der Beek is also auctioning off the cleats and West Canaan Coyotes Hat that the actor wore in 1999's Varsity Blues. Confirming this auction, Van Der Beek told People Magazine this month:
“I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them, and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it's clear that the time is now. While I have some nostalgia tugging at me as I part with these items, it feels good to be able to offer them through Propstore's auction to share with those who have supported my work over the years."
Van Der Beek has been open about his diagnoses for a while:
The Dawson's Creek actor has been open about his battle with colorectal cancer for at least an entire year. In an interview with USA Today this August, Van Der Beek said:
"Cancer's a wild thing. It really does force you to look at your own mortality and decide what's important and decide really what you want to live the rest of your life without. And so, one of the big things for me was recognizing how negative my self-talk was. When I was getting treatment and away from the beautiful cacophony of six kids and 36 acres and five dogs and a bearded dragon and the beautiful chaos that is my life, in the quiet, I realized how negatively I was talking to myself. And so, that started a whole journey of just recognizing how important self-love is and how necessary and how simple it is."
Register yourself for this auction if you are a Dawson's Creek fan. The live in-room bidding for James Van Der Beek's props is scheduled next month on December 6, 2025, in London, and bidders across the world can also participate through December 7, 2025.
