We know that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will see the involvement of Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones. However, one thing was in question regarding her involvement in the MCU: What's her tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Now, if the latest rumor is to be believed, then Ritter is back as Jessica Jones for the long term after her appearance in Born Again Season 2.
Well-known internet scooper, Daniel Richtman (DanielRPK), recently revealed that Marvel Studios is considering one of the two scenarios for Jessica Jones after Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Through his newsletter, Richtman revealed that either Marvel will revive the Jessica Jones series like Daredevil: Born Again or announce a Disney+ special, much like The Punisher special.
Explaining the post Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Jessica Jones rumor
On July 6, 2025, Richtman released his popular internet newsletter, which discussed Krysten Ritter's future with the MCU after Born Again Season 2. Here's how DanielRPK's newsletter described Jessica Jones' future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Daredevil: Born Again Season 2:
"Marvel is discussing doing Jessica Jones as either a [TV] show or a special of her own."
Thus, both possible moves are taken from Daredevil: Born Again. Much like Netflix designed its Marvel Universe based on Daredevil, it seems like Disney is doing the same. However, this time, Disney might be taking a page from The Punisher. That's because Jessica Jones may have a Disney+ solo special revolving around her as well.
But it must be noted that this is just a rumor and hasn't been confirmed officially. Therefore, as of now, we should take it as nothing but a rumor.
What do we know about Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 for now?
The finale of the first season set the stage for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Mayor Wilson Fisk has successfully enacted his mask ban and has tightened his grip over the city through the anti-vigilante task force. Matt Murdock, who has evaded the task force as of the Born Again Season 1 finale, has formed an army consisting of common people in the closing minutes of the episode.
However, not a part of the army are Matt's fellow Defenders, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. However, of the three, Jessica Jones' presence in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 was officially confirmed in the Disney panel at the Upfront presentation in May 2025. While sharing the stage with Charlie Cox, Jessica Jones actress Krysten Ritter said:
“It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and ‘The Defenders’ and now joining the MCU. I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!”
After her confirmation almost two months ago, many fans believe that the other two Defenders, Iron Fist and Luke Cage, are also around the corner. But as of now, Mike Colter (Luke Cage) and Finn Jones (Danny Rand/Iron Fist)'s return hasn't been officially confirmed by Marvel.
