The Peacemaker Season 2 teaser shocked everyone by showing Hawkgirl, Maxwell Lord, and Guy Gardner right in its opening minutes. It looks like the three are recruiting a costumed crimefighter for the "Justice Gang", the team they are trying to form. This has fans excited about the upcoming series, and even Superman, which will pave the way for Hawkgirl, Maxwell Lord, and Guy Gardner's roles in the HBO series.
But now, Nathan Fillion, who is playing Guy Gardner in the DCU, had interesting factoids to share with TVLine in an interview this week. In the interview, the actor teased a rocky relationship between his Green Lantern character and John Cena's Christopher Smith in Peacemaker Season 2.
What did Peacemaker Season 2's Nathan Fillion say?
As stated before, Nathan Fillion sat down for an interview with TVLine in which the actor was asked about his role in HBO's Peacemaker Season 2. To this question, Fillion teased a rocky relationship between Guy Gardner and Christopher Smith/Peacemaker:
"Yeah, it’s clear from their relationship that the two of them do not get along. Not a fan of each other. I wouldn’t call them both A-listers by any means, but I think they both consider themselves — maybe in their hearts — they should be A-listers. I think they have a lot to prove. I think they’ve got chips on their shoulders. And I think it’s just a powder keg when they get together."
Fillion's comments are not surprising, considering Guy Gardner is known for being brash in the comics as well. He is one of the most unlikable characters in the DC Universe. Thus, it looks like Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner might continue being just as brash and unlikable as he is expected to be in the James Gunn-directed Superman.
Fillion was not the only one to talk about Peacemaker Season 2 this week, though.
James Gunn also teased the main storyline of Peacemaker Season 2:
James Gunn and John Cena were interviewed by Entertainment Weekly's Sydney Bucksbaum on May 26, 2025. Gunn teased one of the important focal points of Season 2, the pocket dimension introduced in season 1:
"You've seen what we call the QUC, the Quantum Unfolding Chamber, in the first season of Peacemaker, and we see more about that technology in Superman. The QUC is the center of the story in Peacemaker season 2... We see a lot of different characters from Superman in the [season], [including] Isabela and Nathan and Sean, and then we see a bunch of other characters later on in the season from other parts of the DCU and from Superman. There might even be one really, really, really big cameo near the end of the show."
James Gunn also teased one of the main storylines of season 2:
"He's [Peacemaker] still considered a punchline among all of the other metahumans, so he's starting the season in a bad place. As are all of our heroes, all of the 11th Street kids — well, everybody but Vigilante [Freddie Stroma], who just always seems to be okay with everything."
Consisting of eight episodes, Peacemaker Season 2 will begin streaming on Max from August 21, 2025.
