The latest episode of NCIS: Tony & Ziva Season 1 reveals the reason why Jonah and Martine have been hunting Aaron Graves. Through flashbacks, it is revealed how Martine's traumatic experiences as a child soldier turned agent have seen atrocities committed by Graves' Reigning Fire.
Furthermore, it also reveals how Jonah lost his friend in a war-torn country, again, due to Graves' Reigning Fire. The flashback also gives a glimpse of how the duo came together with the same agenda, that is, to kill Aaron Garves and avenge the people that he and his company have killed.

Other than presenting the love story of the past of the villains, Episode 7 of NCIS: Tony & Ziva Season 1 also shows the lead couple taking the necessary steps toward each other. While Tony and Ziva might be coming together in the mission, a distrust between Jonah and Martine starts brewing in Episode 7 of NCIS: Tony & Ziva Season 1. The former NCIS agents try to understand the Paris layout to disrupt the villains' attempt to kill Graves.
Martine is fueled by her want for justice. However, Jonah's story about his past seems a bit fake to her, as it looks like he might still be hiding something, and there might still be some hidden agenda behind him trying to kill Graves.
The cracks in the trust between the duo start showing up when Ziva confronts her and shows her the footage of when Tali was attacked in the previous episode, which Martine was against from the very start. However, she dismisses the footage, claiming that it was AI-generated, and moves on with Jonah's plan.
