After the success of Schitt’s Creek, Dan Levy is coming up with another comedy series. The actor will star in and create a crime comedy drama for Netflix. The streaming platform made the announcement on May 15, 2025.

Apart from Levy, the show will star Taylor Ortega and Laurie Metcalf. It will revolve around two siblings who are forced to get involved in the criminal world, leading to chaos and some hilarious situations.

Levy has already proved himself to be a master at writing sibling dynamics for the screen, as one of the highlights of Schitt’s Creek was his character David’s banter with his sister, Alexis Rose.

Dan Levy to create and star in a crime comedy series for Netflix

Taylor Ortega and Laurie Metcalf will headline the show along with Dan Levy. Ortega was recently seen in another Netflix series, The Four Seasons. She is also known for her roles in the shows Ghosts, What We Do in the Shadows, and Welcome to Flatch.

Metcalf, on the other hand, is coming fresh off the success of The Conners, which concluded its seven-year run on ABC in April. Her other popular television credits include Easy Money, The Norm Show, and Roseanne.

The untitled project will feature eight episodes, which will begin production later in 2025. Apart from serving as the showrunner and lead actor, Dan Levy will also executive produce the series. Rachel Sennott will serve as the co-creator and executive producer. The official logline for the show reads:

“Two deeply incapable siblings are blackmailed into the world of organized crime.”

Dan Levy and Taylor Ortega will play the siblings. In his official statement, Levy has hinted that Laurie Metcalf will portray his mother in the series:

“I’m so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix. I’m thrilled with the team we’re building both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name, and it’s been my life’s mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf ‘mother.’ Looking forward to getting to share this with everyone.”

This show is the first of many projects that will be produced under a deal signed by Levy’s Not a Real Production Company and Netflix. The actor shot to global fame when he created Schitt's Creek in 2015 along with his father, Eugene Levy. The duo starred in the sitcom along with Catherine O'Hara and Annie Murphy, and the show ended up winning multiple Emmy Awards.

Dan Levy’s other acting credits include the shows Sex Education, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Q-Force, and the movies Unfrosted, Good Grief, Haunted Mansion, Happiest Season, and Stage Fright.
