"One additional requirement": Culinary Class Wars introduces a special rule for the Hidden White Spoons during the Black Spoon Elimination round

Culinary Class Wars Season 2 Episode 1 was released on December 16, 2025. The competition introduced 80 Black Spoon chefs along with 18 White Spoon chefs. Soon, the two judges and the first Black Spoon Elimination round were revealed.

The announcer then revealed the twist for the first challenge. With that, two Hidden White Spoons were introduced: Choi Kang-rok and Kim Do-yun. They would also participate alongside Black Spoons in the elimination round.

However, there was an additional requirement. The announcer revealed that they had to get their dishes evaluated by both judges, instead of just one of them:

"In addition to participating in the Black Spoon Elimination Round, the Hidden White Spoons have been given one additional requirement. In order to pass, the hidden White Spoons must have their dishes evaluated by both Paik Jong-won and Anh Sung-jae. And unless both judges individually decide that their dish is good enough, they will not be allowed to advance to the second round."

The first challenge for the Black Spoon chefs was to prepare their "best dish." In 100 minutes, they had to prepare the dish and get it evaluated by the judges, Paik Jong-won and Anh Sung-jae.

The Culinary Class Wars announcer revealed further important rules for the competition:

"The number of surviving Black Spoons must match the number of White Spoons. Once every seat at the table is filled, the Black Spoon survival match will end abruptly and immediately. At the end of evaluations, should any of the survivors' seat remains empty, any contestant placed on standby will be given another shot at survival."

Soon, the cheftestants heard a loud horn. Everyone, including Black Spoons and White Spoons, looked around for the next announcement.

Two Hidden White Spoons were revealed. They were returning chefs, Choi Kang-rok and Kim Do-yun.

"Introducing this season's Hidden White Spoons, Winner of MasterChef Korea Season 2, Choi Kang-rok. Chef and owner of a Michelin one-star Korean restaurant, Kim Do-yun," shared the announcer.

In his private confession, Culinary Class Wars' Choi Kang-rok shared:

"They say if you do nothing, nothing ever happens to you. That's why I decided to come back on the show. I'm determined to get it right this time. I guess I'm Mr. Do-Over."

Additionally, there was a twist. Choi Kang-rok and Kim Do-yun had to get their prepared dishes evaluated by both judges. The remaining Black Spoons had to get theirs evaluated by only one of the judges.

Listening to that, things got tense. Some of the fellow cheftestants talked about how difficult that might be.

"I think it's good that we're being held to a higher standard. I don't think it should be easy. I think we need to prove we're worthy of a second chance," confessed Choi Kang-rok.

Further, the announcer revealed more rules, including how, if either or both of the Hidden White Spoons were to advance in the competition, it would affect the Black Spoons.
