"Our lives changed forever": Building the Band star late Liam Payne's sister Nicola pens an emotional message

Netflix recently premiered Building the Band on July 9, 2025. The reality show features judges including Liam Payne, Kelly Rowland, and Nicole Scherzinger.

Fans must know late Liam Payne, who passed away on October 16, 2024. He was a guest judge and a mentor on the Netflix show. The filming for the same took place months before his tragic demise.

As of now, after the Building the Band's release, fans and his family members have been quite emotional. After watching her brother on the Netflix show, Liam's sister, Nicola Payne, wrote an emotional post via Instagram on July 16, 2025.

"9 months ago today, our lives changed forever. I still find it incredibly hard to process what happened. I'm not sure I ever fully will, or even want to. Liam, you are the most incredible person," she wrote.

A year after renowned singer and songwriter Liam Payne's demise, his last project, a Netflix reality show, recently aired. Building the Band, where he served as a mentor and the guest judge, is presented by AJ McLean.

The reality show featured AJ sharing emotional words while recalling the late Liam Payne:

"We never imagined we'd soon be saying goodbye to our friend Liam Payne... It's through that spirit that we dedicate this series to Liam and his family."

Liam's sister, Nicola Payne, also shared an emotional Instagram post where she mentioned it has been 9 months since their "lives changed."

Nicola stated that she still finds it "incredibly hard" to process what had happened. She added that she wasn't sure if she could ever be able to or "wanted to."

"For those of us lucky enough to know and love you, our lives were truly blessed. Today, the world gets to see just a glimpse of your passion and talent, and wow, you are amazing in this show," she wrote.

Sharing more about her brother, she noted how he cared "deeply" for everyone around him. She talked about how Liam wanted to "make a difference." Nicole mentioned that he was "made" to become a judge and to guide and encourage those in need.

Referring to the recently released Netflix show Building the Band, and how she witnessed him, she wrote that she had never been "more proud." She hoped that he would have been here to see it for himself. Since it was the last project where Liam would be featured, Nicola mentioned:

"This show will forever hold a special place in my heart because it's one of the last times I saw you, and I got to witness you shine so bloody brightly, but it's also allowed me to still feel close to you."

She concluded the post by stating how much she loves and misses her brother. Nicola's last line was that she "hated" that, whatever had happened, happened.
