Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 3, Another Rick Up My Sleeve, is the shortest of the three episodes released this season, as it has a runtime of 37 minutes. But despite its shorter runtime, the episode has some major implications for this season, and it even recontextualizes Emilia Harcourt's hatred for Christopher in the first season.
However, this episode is the first time we see Christopher being really happy and celebrated. That's because he is in the alternate dimension, as the previous episode of Peacemaker Season 2 set up. But the biggest return in the episode is that of Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag Jr. in both continuities. The synopsis for Another Rick Up My Sleeve reads:
"Economos pays for the team's bungled mission, while Peacemaker explores the depths of his relationship with Harcourt in the other dimension."
Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 3 recap:
Here's what happens in the third episode of Peacemaker's second season:
- Rick Flag Jr. is back
Despite his name being in the title of the episode, Joel Kinnaman's Rick Flag Jr. has less screen time in this Peacemaker Season 2 episode. We meet Flag Jr. for the first time in this episode, right in the opening scene. The version of Flag Jr. seen in the scene is the main DCU continuity, who died in 2021's The Suicide Squad.
We learn that Emilia Harcourt and Rick Flag Jr. of the mainline DCU continuity were buddies and probably friends with benefits before the events of The Suicide Squad. This scene explains why she hated Chris in the early episodes of Peacemaker Season 1. Joel Kinnaman returns in this episode as the alternate version of Rick Flag (not sure who his father is in this dimension) in the middle portion of the episode.
The alternate version of Harcourt is dating her fellow A.R.G.U.S. colleague, Rick Flag.
- Peacemaker fights the Sons of Liberty
The main action of the episode takes place in the episode's third act, which centers on a rogue terrorist group called the Sons of Liberty. The group has taken a government building hostage and threatens to blow it up until their demands are met. However, Chris breaks into the building and kills all the terrorists, frees the hostages, and even defuses the bomb. But fans believe that there's more to the Sons of Liberty of this dimension.
- A.R.G.U.S. raids Peacemaker's house
A very hungover Economos receives a call from Sasha Bordeaux, in which she reprimands him for supposedly not informing them about Eagly, even though he had done so to Langston Fleury. Ultimately, this A.R.G.U.S. calls in Red St. Wild (Michael Rooker) to deal with Eagly. As Chris is about to return to the home dimension, A.R.G.U.S. agents approach his home, ending this Peacemaker Season 2 episode.
Some observations about this alternate dimension:
We see very little about the Sons of Liberty in this alternate dimension, but a lot of fans are theorizing that not everything is as amazing as it seems in this alternate dimension. Some fans speculate that Auggie Smith and his family are celebrated figures in this dimension, suggesting that racism prevailed there.
Many point to the lack of people of color, Keith's pronunciation of Blüdhaven (the English pronunciation sounds "Bloodhaven", while Keith's pronounces it as "Bluedhaven), and alternate Harcourt's trad-wife attire in the Peacemaker Season 2 intro sequence as evidence of a Fascist state. Even some Redditors have theorized this Fascist nature of this dimension:
Another Redditor expressed that the newspaper headline about this dimension's Smith family taking down a "rainbow monster" was a dead giveaway of a state that enforces homosexuality and outlaws any queerness:
Another fan put forth a theory that's a bit of a stretch, but kind of fits a Fascist state. According to this theory, Keith's superhero moniker, "Captain Triumph", comes from the 1935 N*zi propaganda movie, Triumph of the Will.
Regardless of the fan theories, we have to wait for a few weeks to get a proper answer regarding the alternate dimension that Christopher labelled as the best in this episode. Maybe he will get more and more disillusioned as he stays in the alternate dimension.
What happens in the next episode?
The fourth episode of Peacemaker Season 2 is titled Need I Say Door. HBO released the preview of the upcoming episode. We see Christopher running from A.R.G.U.S. agents in the preview. We will also see Michael Rooker's Red St. Wild in action in the next episode as he takes on Eagly. James Gunn also hyped Rooker's Peacemaker Season 2 character in a May 2025 Entertainment Weekly interview:
"His name is Red St. Wild, and he's the world's foremost eagle hunter who is on a mission to kill Eagly. We thought Eagly was probably the most popular character from season 1, and so in season 2, he has his own story with his nemesis, played by none other than the despicable Michael Rooker."
