The sixth episode of Peacemaker Season 2 featured some major revelations and set-ups for the future of the DCU. However, the episode also features several Easter eggs that extend beyond the DC lore. One particular easter egg has many hoping for a crossover that has occurred in comics for decades but not yet in animation or live-action.
Firstly, this episode confirms a fan theory formulated since the third episode of Peacemaker Season 2. The synopsis for Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6, Ignorance Is Chris, reads:
"As the 11th Street Kids fight to bring their missing member home, Flag doubles down on his efforts to hold Peacemaker accountable."
Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6 easter eggs:
Here are some of the easter eggs throughout the 36-minute run time of Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6:
- Dungeons & Dragons
This episode marks the first appearance of Vigilante in the second season of the acclaimed DC HBO Max series. It is also the first time that we meet Adrian's mother, played by actress Taylor St. Clair. In this scene, she reveals to the 11th Street Kids (minus Chris) that she joined Adrian in his D&D quest and is now a level 4 cutpurse (a low-level underworld thief).
- Xenomorph
The 11th Street Kids manage to open a QUC portal in Adrian's basement (compared to Al Capone’s vault by Harcourt later in the episode). Once inside, the four come across the Kyphotic Alien again in this episode. While the design is noticeably different, Economos refers to the alien as Xenomorph, one of the fictional creatures from the Alien franchise.
- Reverse Flash
This was one of the subtler easter eggs in Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6. As Harcourt, Adebayo, Economos, and Vigilante enter the alternate dimension, John remarks that the "Reverse-Peacemaker", i.e., the deceased alternate dimension Chris, was wealthy. This is a clear nod to the Reverse Flash/Eobard Thawne/Professor Zoom, Barry Allen/The Flash's arch nemesis.
- Belle Reve and Van Kull
While the existence of Belle Reve was known, Peacemaker Season 2 confirms the existence of another prison from the DC lore: Van Kull Maximum Security Prison. Rik Flag Sr. visits the Belle Reve prison to meet Lex Luthor, who is still injured after Krypto the Superdog's attack in the last act of Superman.
Flag Sr. asks Luthor for help in locating Chris's portable inter-dimensional technology in exchange for a transfer from Belle Reve to Van Kull, which is located outside Metropolis in the comics.
This scene also serves as a setup for Man of Tomorrow, something that was alluded to a few weeks ago by James Gunn. It is known that Man of Tomorrow will feature Luthor and Superman teaming up. This scene is setting the stage for that collaboration.
- Spider-Man pointing meme
We finally meet the alternate dimension Adrian Chase/Vigilante in this episode, and it turns out he gets along with his DCU counterpart well enough. In one of their goofs, they point at each other, similar to Marvel's beloved wall-crawler. However, this interaction also paves the way for the episode's major twist that fans had theorized ever since the third episode streamed.
- "One got out"
Just because fans saw this twist coming does not mean that it wasn't scary. One of the most tense moments in this episode is in its closing minutes as Leota Adebayo goes for a walk in the alternate dimension. However, she is soon met with suspicious looks, and soon Keith drives in and, referring to Adebayo, says that "one got out".
Simultaneously, Chris finally uncovers the truth of this dimension as he picks up a small US flag and sees the N**i Sw*stika instead of the stars. Thus, many believe that people of color are sent to an inhuman labor camp.
The sixth episode is currently streaming on HBO Max. Catch it as soon as you can.
