Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 is currently filming, as the second season prepares for release. As the team works on the third season, author Rick Riordan and Grover Underwood actor Aryan Simhadri sat down for an interview with TV Insider on Thursday, August 21, 2025, during a break from filming.

In this interview, the author of the twenty-year-old franchise revealed that he is excited to bring the third Percy Jackson and the Olympians book, The Titan's Curse, to the screen because the scene they are currently filming harkens back to his past as a teacher. The scene in question is the opening scene of The Titan's Curse, where we meet Bianca and Nico Di Angelo for the first time.

The Disney+ Percy Jackson and the Olympians series has finally crossed the film franchise:

It is well known that Riordan is not a fan of the movies that starred Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, and Brandon T. Jackson. The movie franchise ended with the second movie that adapted the second book, The Sea of Monsters, which the upcoming season 2 of the Disney+ series is also adapting. Thus, it is not surprising that the author, who has greater control over the Disney+ series, will be excited to adapt his stories to a different medium.

In the most recent TV Insider interview, the Percy Jackson and the Olympians author revealed that he got a chance to bring three of his books to life for the small screen. Then, the author went on to tease a scene from the third season that the team is working on, and how it reminded him of his days as a teacher:

“It’s unbelievable, honestly. I didn’t think we would ever get to this point. I retired from teaching 20 years ago and thought I was done chaperoning school dances, but one of the first scenes we’re filming is a dance in an actual school gymnasium, so I guess I’m back on duty!”

For those who don't know, the scene that Riordan is describing is from the earlier chapters of The Titan's Curse. In this scene, Percy and his friends visit a boarding school to rescue two half-bloods, siblings Bianca and Nico Di Angelo.

What do we know about the third season?

Cameras started rolling on Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 on August 7, 2025. The most recent actors to join the cast of the third season are Saara Chaudry and Dafne Keen, who are playing Zoë Nightshade and Artemis. Artemis is the goddess of the hunt and the moon in the Greek legends, and Zoë is a book addition, one of Artemis' trusted lieutenants.

Other than Keen and Chaudry, other new additions to this season include Olive Abercrombie and Levi Chrysopoulos will play the brother and sister duo, Bianca and Nico Di Angelo. It must be noted that the first season's sixth episode, We Take a Zebra to Vegas, set up the Di Angelo siblings. We can hear Nico calling for Bianca inside the Lotus Hotel and Casino, where they spent around 70 years.

As we wait for the third season, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 is just three-and-a-half months away on December 10, 2025.
