Vince Gilligan's latest creation, Pluribus, will explore a rather unique perspective on the world. The story is essentially a drama, but it also seems to border on comedy. It will feature Rhea Seehorn in the leading role, as she takes on the character of Carol Sturka in the new Apple TV+ production.
Check out the official teaser below.
Pluribus follows a sort of dystopian theme, as it follows the life of Carol Sturka, who is supposedly the world's most miserable person alive. While she is in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to sign her new historical romance novel, an epidemic breaks out at the location, and the virus spreads an epidemic of happiness all around.
This is where the story truly begins, as the audience then follows Sturka as she attempts to save the world from this "epidemic of happiness."

Vince Gilligan reveals some interesting details about the character of Carol in Pluribus
In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Vince Gilligan revealed some interesting facts about the character of Carol Sturka in Pluribus. He mentioned that while it was earlier made clear that Seehorn's character was unaffected by the virus spreading the epidemic of happiness, there was no real justification or logic behind this development. He says,
"That's a question that several people have asked me starting back in the writers’ room. I don't want to give too much away, but maybe we'll find an answer to that, maybe we won't. A better way for me to put it is that it never really occurred to me as a question. I just figured there's always gotta be a one-in-a-billion person. And it's Carol. As to the science of it, I don't know. Maybe we'll have an answer, maybe we won’t."
During the interview, Gilligan also addresses the sort of wry humor that is in the plot of the show, where a woman deemed the most miserable person alive is tasked to save the day and humanity from... happiness.
"The drama of the show is that the world’s most miserable person is desperately trying to save the planet from happiness. There's a surprising amount of drama that we're mining from that.... She doesn't really want to be tasked with saving the world, but she more or less feels like it's her duty."
The interview with Gilligan puts many things into perspective for those looking forward to watching the upcoming Apple TV+ drama series. Aside from the input he had to share about Carol's character, Gilligan also revealed that there will be several Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul Easter eggs within the show.
Pluribus will release on November 7, 2025, and will be available to stream on Apple TV+.
