Rick and Morty Season 8 Episode 8, titled Nomortland, was a Jerry-centered episode, where he went on a multiverse journey with one of his versions. Being one of the most sidelined and underrated characters in his family, Jerry finally learned his importance in the latest episode.

Nomortland begins with Jerry eating cereal with his family until another Jerry arrives, and we learn that the cereal-eating Jerry is actually a version of Jerry (called Mooch) from another reality. He narrates how his family had abandoned him, and now he is a drifter, mooching off of other Jerrys' lives.

Since Jerry is the most overlooked character in his family, nobody has caught on to him until now. In Rick and Morty Season 8 Episode 8, Mooch tells Jerry about The Road, an interdimensional passageway for all Jerrys to slip in and out of their respective realities.

Mooch also reveals that the portal to the Road is through his closet and motivates Jerry to take a multiverse trip and meet different versions of himself. While Jerry hesitates, Mooch convinces him by saying that nobody would even notice if he were missing from his home.

Here is the complete Rick and Morty Season 8 Episode 8 recap.

Rick and Morty Season 8 Episode 8 recap: Mooch and Jerry's multiverse journey takes a dark turn

After much convincing, Jerry agrees to take a multiverse trip with Mooch and visit the Smith family across different realities.

The different realities Jerry and Mooch visit are quite different than the one Jerry came from. While in one of the realities they visit, the only word used to communicate is 'Blah'; the other is a freezing reality, where the Smith family has perished because of the cold.

After hopping through these exciting realities, Jerry and Mooch eventually become friends, but their journey takes a dark turn in Rick and Morty Season 8 Episode 8. While talking, Jerry and Mooch miss the getaway on the road, which would have taken Jerry to his original reality, and Mooch mentions that they can only access it after a week from now.

Since Jerry wants to get back to his real reality now, Mooch suggests that Grand Central, a secretive under-burlap tunnel, is the only way back for Jerry. However, the Grand Central is controlled by Boss Jerry, a villain who has made Rick his servant and other Jerrys his thugs.

As Jerry and Mooch approach Grand Central in Rick and Morty Season 8 Episode 8, Boss Jerry blacklists them from his world and throws them into Mooch's reality.

Rick and Morty Season 8 Episode 8 recap: How did Jerry get back to his reality?

In Rick and Morty Season 8 Episode 8, when Jerry gets to Mooch's reality, he learns that Beth had left Mooch and remarried Paul, which led to Mooch becoming a drifter. After reconciling Mooch with his family, Jerry is aided by Rick, who escorts the duo to Grand Central.

Just as Mooch and Jerry near the burlap dimensional gateway at Grand Central, Boss Jerry and his henchman Jerrys chase them across the multiverse. However, Jerry and Mooch manage to cut the rope from the inside, and the tunnel collapses on itself, trapping Boss Jerry inside the temporal-spatial vortex.

After Mooch and Jerry finally make their way to the latter's reality, Jerry is happy to learn that his Smith family was actually worried about him. While he asks Mooch to stay with them in this reality, he does not want to be a burden on his family and leaves after bidding Jerry goodbye.
