Schitt’s Creek wrapped up nearly perfectly, especially for a show that began with a fall from luxury and ended with emotional redemption.

The Roses found their place in the new world they were thrown into. But one character’s ending felt like it didn’t fully live up to the evolution she earned. Alexis Rose is the character with the unforgettable "A Little Bit Alexis" dance number.

She was the show’s heart in Louboutins. But behind those sunglasses was a character who went from being just another rich and spoiled girl to one of the show’s most emotionally resonant figures.

When Schitt’s Creek started, Alexis had a diva-like vibe. Well, there's no denying that she is one, but she was the girl who was always just back from Ibiza and completely allergic to reality.

But she became one of the best-written examples of character growth in TV history. She found her voice and her ambition. So when the finale came and her ending involved saying goodbye to everyone she loved, something didn’t feel right. It felt like the writers gave her growth but not her due.

Let's get a bit more into it.

Schitt’s Creek: Alexis and Ted could have had it all

If David got a fairy tale ending with Patrick, why was Alexis’s happy ending moving to New York? She deserved more than just a bittersweet farewell. Her journey was all about self-growth, but why did that have to mean doing it alone?

Ted and Alexis had that rare kind of relationship that started as cute and goofy but slowly turned into something solid and deep. They challenged each other. He grounded her, and she brought out a bolder side in him.

Their love lived in little moments. Ted was sticking around when things got messy. Alexis choosing someone else’s happiness over her own comfort. That’s growth and love. And it’s the kind that only gets better with time.

Schitt’s Creek gave Alexis the “independent girlboss” ending and we love that for her. But it's not that she couldn’t have done that and explored a future with Ted. She didn’t need to pick one over the other. Her job as a publicist could’ve easily been done remotely.

Schitt’s Creek was a small town, and she managed just fine there. Alexis could have managed in the Galapagos, too. She could have pitched clients over Zoom with a beach in the background.

And who’s to say she wouldn’t have discovered a whole new version of herself in a different place? Alexis was at her best when she embraced the unknown.

Schitt’s Creek is about connection. It is about finding your people even in the unlikeliest of places. And Alexis found hers in her family and Ted. So, although we’ll always respect her for choosing herself, it still stings a little that she didn’t get the full circle moment we were hoping for. Because she didn’t need a fairytale, she just needed a chance to keep writing one with someone who saw her. And that someone was Ted.
