While Sharon is reeling with the loss of Vince, her sister Mickey Fox is facing her own problems in Sheriff Country. This new CBS drama is about Mickey, a dedicated and brave deputy in Edgewater.

Her life takes a notable turn when Mickey's boss (the sheriff) is killed in the premiere, and she's appointed as the temporary boss of the department, tasked with solving cases in the town. What makes her journey difficult is that Mickey has a daughter who's struggling to stay sober and her father, who has now returned.

The town's residents don't trust Mickey but she's dedicated to winning it by helping out in solving complex cases. The story continues in episode 2 of Sheriff Country and the synopsis reads:

"Mickey’s personal and professional lines blur as she investigates a harrowing missing persons case all while trying to protect her daughter, whose connection to a crime scene raises unsettling questions. Meanwhile, Mickey’s sister arrives to support her niece during this deeply emotional time."

In this week's episode, Mickey has a new case of a missing person in Edgewater. At the same time, Skye is now linked to the murder of her boyfriend, who happened to be an addict and has always been in the news of the town.

A detailed explanation of episode 2 is right below.

Sheriff Country episode 2 recap: Skye's choice throws her into trouble

Episode 2 of Sheriff Country starts with Mickey's daughter once again in trouble. This time, for dating a popular drug addict in Edgewater. Even though she knew being around drugs could pull her back into old habits, Skye ignored the warning signs and stood like a rebel against her mother.

As seen in the pilot of Sheriff Country, Brandon was brutally stabbed, which resulted in his death. To make it worse, Skye was seen with blood on her hands and even fingerprints on a knife. This way, she becomes a prime suspect in this murder case.

Notably, Sky had many reasons to end Brandon's life. He had tried to rob her grandfather’s beehives, where he stored money, and even got stung and nearly shot. And instead of calling 911 and reporting the murder, Skye went straight to Mickey for help.

Being a temporary sheriff, Mickey couldn't let Skye escape if she had really committed the crime. Mickey's father advised her to flee town, but Skye remained in Edgewater.

Later, Brandon's family stormed the sheriff's department and demanded justice. Since Mickey already knew about the murder, she let Boone take charge of the investigation, and all the clues pointed right at Skye.

Just like the situation with her daughter seemed hopeless, Mickey was thrown into her next high-pressure case. This time it involves a kidnapping case revolving around involving trimmigrants(worker migrants who trim marijuana plants).

A criminal syndicate was drugging and enslaving trim workers at illegal farms in a location named Deadwater. Mickey learned that the place is dangerous, and yet she decided to go there with her deputy, Cassidy.

At the same time, Wes (Mickey's father), who is a former drug dealer, tried to step in to ensure his daughter is safe. Things got tense when locals confronted them, and Cassidy broke Mickey’s rule by pulling her gun. Luckily, Mickey managed to calm everyone down before shots were fired.

As the Sheriff Country episode continues, the team learns that a man named William Purdy has been killed by the same people who took away three young men: Ethan, Jay, and Seth. Luckily, Ethan was able to escape and he remembered words like "snow" and "Santa Claus".

These words were enough for the team to figure out that the culprits are hiding at an abandoned Christmas Tree farm, now used as a drug lab. Mickey and the team wasted no time and arrived at the location where they rescued the two boys, but one of the culprits was killed during a shootout.

Skye's future in Sheriff Country episode 2 looks grim

While the kidnapping case was solved in episode 2 of Sheriff Country, Brandon's murder remains a mystery. Since all clues hinted that Sky is involved, she ends up being the main suspect.

Mickey had no option but to take the help of her ex-husband, who happens to be a lawyer. He helped get Skye released, but Brandon's family still believes she's the killer and is ready to take revenge. By the end of the episode, Mickey Fox realizes that her problems have just begun.
