Apple TV+'s breakthrough sci-fi series Silo, based on Hugh Howey's triolgy of the same name, was renewed for Seasons 3 and 4 (final) even before the Season 2 finale.

Led by Rebecca Ferguson's Juliette, the story follows a dystopian future, where the remnants of humanity are living in large underground bunkers because the outside world is not fit to live in anymore.

Silo seasons 1 and 2 adapted Howey's first book Wool in two parts and the upcoming seasons will focus on the remaining two books of the trilogy.

While Apple TV+ officially announced that the show would wrap with four seasons, Ferguson had predicted the show's fate even before.

More on this in our story.

Rebecca Ferguson had predicted Silo's fate even before Apple TV+'s announcement

While Apple TV+ announced Silo Seasons 3 and 4 in December 2024, star and producer Rebecca Ferguson predicted that Howey's book story would likely conclude with four seasons. In a November 2024 interview with The Wrap, the actress had said:

“I believe that the whole story of the three books would have to be told over four seasons.''

A month after Ferguson's prediction, Apple TV+ and showrunner Graham Yost officially announced that Howey's book series will conclude with Seasons 3 and 4:

“It has been a richly rewarding experience to adapt Hugh’s epic novels with our partners at Apple and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this complete story to the screen over the course of four seasons.''

While seasons 1 and 2 focused on Howey's book Wool, the subsequent seasons will focus on one book each. Season 3 will further adapt Shift, and the final season will conclude the story with Dust.

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, further announced that the show will conclude with four seasons:

“As we look to seasons three and four of this ambitious, character-driven sci-fi series — which will conclude Juliette Nichols’ journey and complete Hugh Howey’s epic trilogy of novels.''

Silo Seasons 3 and 4 will likely answer many unanswered questions

While Season 2 concluded Howey's first book, Wool, it left many unanswered questions that will likely be answered in the upcoming chapters.

Since Shift and Dust focuses more on the origins of the bunkers, Juliette's story will take a back seat in the upcoming seasons. As teased in the season 2 finale, a meeting between a freshman congressman and a journalist many years ago likely set up the formation of these bunkers.

Seasons 3 and 4 will take the audience on a journey of their creation. In addition, in the final moments of Season 2, both Juliette and Bernard were trapped in the airlock fire, with their fates hanging by a thread.

While Juliette was wearing a proxy fire suit, thanks to Solo, Bernard will likely succumb to fire and die before the upcoming seasons. Season 2 also shed light on the safeguard procedure, where anybody from outside can pump poison into the bunker.

Season 2 left many unanswered questions, and as Yost announced via Variety, the upcoming seasons will provide definitive answers:

“With the final two chapters of ‘Silo’, we can’t wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos.”
