Recreating its magic from last year, Apple TV+'s British spy thriller series Slow Horses bagged a total of five nominations at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.
The nomination ceremony for the 2025 Emmy awards was hosted by Harvey Guillén and Brenda Song, where the Gary Oldman-led show bagged five nominations, including Best Drama Series and Lead Actor for the veteran star.
The series, adapted from Mick Herron's Slough House novel series, debuted in 2022 and is all set to premiere its fifth season in September 2025.
Slow Horses surprised everyone and made its Emmy debut with nine awards in 2024, following which the show earned more success with each season.
Here is every category in which the British thriller made the cut at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards.
Slow Horses bagged five nominations at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards
While Slow Horses is down by a few nominations from 2024, it still managed to bag five nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, including one for Outstanding Drama Series.
The Apple TV+ show just missed the mark for this award in 2024, but this might just be its lucky year. However, the race for the Emmy Awards 2025 will surely not be easy as the show is up against equally deserving projects, including Andor, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, Paradise, The Pitt, Severance, and The White Lotus.
Recreating his 2024 charm, Golden Globe Award-winning actor Gary Oldman was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Slow Horses. The veteran actor will be against some new and familiar faces in this category, including Sterling K. Brown (Paradise), Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), Adam Scott (Severance), and Noah Wyle (The Pitt).
Oldman is phenomenal in his character of Jackson Lamb, the abusive and ruthless owner of Slough House, who will go to any lengths to protect and rescue his Slow Horses. While Oldman missed the award last year, the cards might finally favour him in 2025.
In addition to these categories, director Adam Randall and writer Will Smith are also nominated in the respective categories of Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. While director Saul Metzstein was nominated last year, Smith managed to win the award, which has all eyes on him this year too.
Other contenders against Smith for this category in the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards are Mike White for The White Lotus, Dan Erickson for Severance, R. Scott Gemmill and Joe Sachs for The Pitt, and Dan Gilroy for Andor.
While actor Jack Lowden also bagged the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Slow Horses in 2024, the show was not nominated in this category at the 77th Emmy Awards.
To round up the Apple TV+ show's nominations, Nina Gold is also nominated in the category of Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series for the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. While the show bagged a total of four Creative Emmy awards in 2024, the number is down to only one in 2025.
Slow Horses became a breakthrough series with nine Emmy nominations in 2024 (which was also the first for the show). The continued recognition of the show at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards suggests that the show's future is bright, and it might finally bag more awards this season.
