Fans all over the world are gearing up for Squid Game Season 3 (on June 27, 2025), the final chapter that will conclude the breakthrough thriller series on Netflix.

After a gritty Season 1, which ended in the deaths of all players except Gi-hun, he returns to the games for a second time with a mission. Season 2 starts with Gi-hun and Hwang Jun-ho planning to work together and uncover the mysterious island of the games.

Jun-ho also takes help from Captain Park, the man who saved him after his brother (The Front Man) shot him off a cliff in the Season 1 finale. Jun-ho and Gi-hun plan to work as a team, where Gi-hun will re-enter the game with a tracker in his tooth and Jun-ho will follow the signal and find the location.

However, Squid Game Season 2 revealed that Captain Park was an ally to the Front Man, who betrays Jun-ho and sends him on a wild goose chase, trapping Gi-hun inside the island with a new batch of players' lives on the line.

Here is everything you need to remember before watching Squid Game Season 3.

Squid Game Season 2: How Kang No-eul's character offered a different side of the story

While the pink masked guards were an important element of the show, their identities were concealed throughout the first season. However, Squid Game Season 2 switched things up a bit with a new character, Kang No-eul.

No-eul is a North Korean defector who left her newborn baby in the country before fleeing to South Korea. She is shown to be working in an amusement park and making ends meet when she gets the recruiter's card.

However, to everyone's surprise, No-eul joined the contest as a pink-masked guard and not as a player like everyone else.

She is also the first female guard seen in Squid Game Season 2 who was at odds with her superiors because she disrupted their side hustle of harvesting organs by taking clean shots at the players.

In the Season 2 finale, she was summoned after the Player revolt and was one of the guards who allegedly shot Player 246, setting up an interesting arc for her in the final season.

Squid Game Season 2: Gi-hun's player revolt ended in tragedy

After Gi-hun's tracker plan fails horribly, he continues playing the game. While he warned the players about the deadly consequences of the game, they chose to stay and continue to play for the prize money.

As for new players, Gi-hun formed a team with other like-minded players, which included Dae-ho, Hyun-ju, Jun-hee, Gyeong-seok, Yong-sik, Guem-ja and one of his old friends, Jung-bae.

Gi-hun and his new team also bonded with Player 001, who was the Front Man in disguise. While he tried his best to delay Gi-hun's team in every game, he eventually helped them complete all rounds.

The Squid Game Season 2 finale takes a turning point when Gi-hun decides to revolt when the players start to fight among themselves. When the pink guards enter the dormitory, Gi-hun and his group feign death, after which they snatch the guards' guns and revolt against them.

Hyun-ju leads the group and they move forward to take charge of the control room, but unfortunately, run out of ammo. While two players hold their guard, Dae-ho is sent to bring more ammo. However, seeing the deadly situation, he freezes on the spot, which leads to Gyeong-seok's alleged execution.

Elsewhere, the Front Man feigns his death (as Player 001) on the radio to Gi-hun and Jung-bae, who are slowly charging towards his room. In the final moments, The Front Man executes Jung-bae, leaving a shocked Gi-hun.

Squid Game Season 2 ends with no light for Gi-hun and the other players, setting for an intense final chapter for the show.
