The pop culture world pays close attention when Stephen King says something. Now, the man who gave us killer clowns, haunted hotels, and cars with violent tendencies has turned his focus on Alien, a popular horror franchise. Surprisingly, he doesn't pick James Cameron's sequel or Ridley Scott's 1979 masterpiece as the franchise's best version. The King of Horror (Stephen King) has declared Alien: Earth from FX to be his "favorite" installment in the series!

Facehuggers can now drop their eggs in shock, right?

The information was made public by King's Threads account, where he made a usual but brief and impactful recommendation of Noah Hawley's TV adaptation. Alien: Earth was already on an upward climb thanks to its fans and 95% Rotten Tomatoes rating. In horror, Stephen King's approval is a Pulitzer!

Why is Stephen King backing Alien: Earth?

Stephen King didn't hold back. He referred to Alien: Earth as "maybe my favorite" in the franchise, citing three elements: the show's blistering dialogue, the special effects ("amazing, not to mention gross"), and a villain twist that fans of the franchise had always feared but that the show reiterates.

While the xenomorphs took center stage as the Big Bad, Weyland-Yutani's questionable business practices were hidden for decades.

Yet Hawley's Earth-set series switches up the narrative. It concentrates on the oppressive power of five corporations that split the planet for financial gain rather than just the alien carnage. Stephen King lays out that Alien has been about abuse and greed just as much as chest-bursting monsters.

The horror maestro’s take resonates with fans and the Alien franchise in general

Stephen King has a history of supporting modern TV shows and movies, such as Stranger Things and Yellowjackets, and his opinions often convince viewers who are unsure whether to watch something.

His praise for Alien: Earth confirms what critics and fans have been saying since its debut: this is a sequel done right. It honors Scott's DNA while trying something new, such as the first image of xenomorph carnage on Earth. It's all here, but updated for a streaming audience: the corporate threat, the claustrophobic fear, and the concept that the monsters aren't the monsters at all.

With the finale coming up, King's support only added to the excitement.

King wrote,

"I think ALIEN EARTH might be my favorite. The SFX are amazing (not to mention gross), and the dialogue is sharp. The real monsters appear to be the 5 corporations that have carved up the planet."

Removing the fangs and slime and bringing out the manufactured decay at the very heart of a tale is a classic King move. Monsters in his world sit in boardrooms, sign contracts, and take advantage of life itself. Alien: Earth seems to be a perfect fit for his sensibilities in that sense.

No matter how well Alien: Earth's finale plays out, King's claim solidifies it as a candidate for the franchise's crown jewel. This backing matters for fans who are anxious about another sluggish reboot. It also gives the show a seal of approval that cannot be bought with a marketing budget.

Reinvention has always been the lifeblood of the Alien franchise, but Stephen King just heated an already raging Xenomorph nest now!
