Stick returns with Episode 4, digging into personal wounds while shifting the power dynamics between mentor and prodigy. The fragile bond between Pryce and Santi hits another rough patch, as the young golfer keeps his distance, leaving Pryce scrambling for a way back in.

But just when things feel too far gone, Zero steps in, not by accident, but through a carefully planned move by Pryce. What follows is a surprising setup for what might be their only shot at making this team work.

Distance grows as Pryce tries to fix things in Stick Episode 4

Things don't look too promising at the beginning of Stick Episode 4. Pryce is worried after Santi walks away following their last tournament. The silence between them says more than words ever could. Hoping to reconnect, Pryce leaves a voice note, unsure if Santi will even listen.

Meanwhile, Elena and Mitts stumble upon news of an upcoming tournament, the Ready Safe Invitational, hosted by Clark Ross, the same man tied to Pryce's old career meltdown. The ghosts of the past suddenly feel very present.

Santi, on the other hand, seems completely done with Pryce. His energy now circles Zero, who's quit their job at the club and spends time hanging out with Santi and his friends.

The tension deepens in Sticks when Pryce tries to drop off breakfast and extend an olive branch, only to get turned away at the door. Even when Santi agrees to a practice later, it's only if Pryce agrees to leave him alone. At this point, Pryce fears their partnership is slipping beyond repair.

A hard truth and a backstory

This Sticks episode gently pulls back on Pryce's life, adding weight to his actions.

Mitts is the one who shares with Elena about how Pryce lost his son Jett to cancer years ago, which is a pain he has buried deep. It adds context to Pryce's desperate need to help Santi succeed. Elena, previously harsh in her judgment, begins to realize that Pryce's emotions come from more than just pride or control.

Still, Santi stays cold. His mind seems more at ease with Zero, who becomes a sort of emotional compass.

Zero, however, doesn't hold back from challenging Pryce. When he tries to talk to Santi at the quarry, Zero steps in and sharply questions his motives. For Pryce, this moment is confusing and even a bit humiliating. Still, it pushes him to change his strategy.

Instead of trying to connect with Santi directly, he decides to approach things differently. In a private moment, he speaks to Zero and offers something symbolic — his prized Ryder Cup ring, hoping they will agree to join the team as Santi's caddy.

A quiet plan in motion

Rather than pushing further, Pryce sits back and lets the idea take root on its own.

After faking a minor leg injury in the 4th episode of Sticks, he sets the stage so that Santi is the one to suggest Zero as a replacement caddy. The move is subtle but smart. It's not about winning the argument anymore. It is about showing that he cares enough to step aside if that's what it takes.

While Mitts figures out the act, Pryce focuses on the bigger picture that this isn't just about golf anymore. It's about building a support system that Santi trusts.

Zero agrees to the role, even though it is clear they are still unsure of Pryce's intentions. But the episode ends with a glimmer of progress. The team might still be fractured, but at least they're all back on the same course.

There is a new formation here being built here in Sticks with Santi, Zero, and Pryce, and for once, they're not all speaking past each other.

Episode 4 of Stick isn't flashy, but it brings the characters face-to-face with things they've been avoiding, i.e., grief, guilt, and control. With Zero stepping in as Santi's new caddy, things finally seem to shift.

It's less about fixing the past and more about building something that can actually last and even if it means starting from scratch.
