Vagrants is another exciting episode of the HBO series that ties up some loose ends from the previous episodes and sets up exciting storylines for the upcoming episodes. This is the episode in which Robbie is finally identified as the mastermind behind the robberies by both the Dark Hearts and Tom's team. The biggest foreshadowing of this danger is set up right in the first act, which sees a shocking death.

Perry interrogated Jayson's wife, Eryn, in the previous episode whether she helped Cliff Boward and his then unidentified partner in robbing the Dark Hearts' drug houses. She denies it, despite Perry offering her a way out. Now, Eryn tries to run, but Perry catches up to her, and as he does so, she calls out for help, as some people are nearby enjoying a party.

However, her cries for help are drowned out by the loud music. As Perry tries to silence her, he accidentally drowns her in the lake. Jamie McShane, who plays Perry in the HBO series, addressed this moment in the Variety interview:

"Perry had no intention of killing Eryn. He tells her that he gave her a clean way out of her situation, and now they have to handle it differently. When he tells her to go, he’s telling her that he’s taking her back to confess to Jayson, who will find his own way to deal with her. When she runs away, he’s trying to get her until he realizes that those kids are up [on the cliff] partying and playing, and Eryn is just screaming bloody murder. He tries to get her to be quiet while he’s looking up at the kids, and he’s just not fully realizing what he’s doing. When it hits him, he’s horrified, but then within that moment, the gangster mentality clicks inside."

After this, Robbie commits a mistake by approaching Freddy Frias, who immediately tips off Jayson. Meanwhile, the FBI team also identifies Robbie because of the man he assaulted in the previous episode. Maeve takes Sam to the FBI HQ, where he will be safe and sound, as Tom visits her home to ask her some questions, but ends up meeting Robbie.

Tom tries to lie, but Robbie takes him hostage and forces him to drive to the location where he agreed to meet Frias. But he forces Tom to go a bit off-road, which leads to a forest, where he lets Tom go. Tom contacts the FBI, which traces Robbie to the remote cabin, where he and Tom point a gun at each other, and the episode cuts to black.

The thrilling fifth episode of Task is accessible on HBO Max. Catch it before the next one releases next week.
