FX's The Bear Season 4 is finally streaming on Hulu, featuring a new and intense journey for Carmy, Sydney, and the other restaurant chefs to sustain the titular restaurant.
After a below-average review in the Chicago Tribune, Cicero and Computer give the restaurant staff two months to generate enough revenue and sustain in the market, or their business will be closed for good.
Trying to make ends meet with limited cash flow, Sydney tries her best to procure the best ingredients for the kitchen at a minimum cost, which turns out to be more challenging than she had thought.
While the chefs struggle with the restaurant's finances in The Bear Season 4 Episode 2, Carmy finally takes the first step in changing his selfish behaviour towards the people in his kitchen.
Here is the complete recap of The Bear Season 4 Episode 2.
The Bear Season 4 Episode 2 recap: Carmy finally realises his shortcomings
The latest installment of the show is all about Carmy making amends with the people and colleagues he had hurt previously, and The Bear Season 4 Episode 2 was Carmy's first step towards making amends in the right direction.
While Carmy has largely been a selfish and self-centred figure throughout the three seasons, Episode 2 saw him recognizing and even appreciating Tina's capabilities as a chef. While Tina is having her own problems this season, trying to get her dish out under three minutes, she gives some much-needed perspective to Carmy and reminds him to meet his niece, Natalie's baby.
Realising that he has forgotten to meet his own niece, Carmy apologises to Natalie, and the Berzatto siblings have a heart-to-heart conversation. While Carmy is visibly struggling in The Bear Season 4 and pretending that he still has the passion for cooking inside him, Natalie tries to make him realise that he has outgrown his love for food.
She helps him let go and advises him to listen to his heart before it's too late. While Carmy is still not ready to give up, he gives some creative control of The Bear to Sydney and lets her pitch the revised menu to Sweeps.
The Bear Season 4 Episode 2 recap: Ebraheim thrives at the sandwich shop
While Carmy and the others are struggling to make ends meet in The Bear Season 4 Episode 2, Ebraheim's beef sandwich shop is the only example that The Bear could still survive in the culinary world.
While Ebraheim apologised to Carmy for dropping out of culinary school, his efforts to promote and handle the sandwich shop business are proving The Bear's only success at the moment.
In addition to The Bear's staff, Episode 2 focused on Ebraheim's efforts to create an exciting opportunity for Carmy's restaurant, which results in a business boom, and his Chicago Beef sandwiches are selling out even before the usual lunch rush.
The Bear Season 4 Episode 2 brought back two real-life culinary professionals as guest stars, who helped Ebra run his sandwich shop. Paulie James' Chuckie and Christopher Zucherro's Chi-Chi resurfaced in episode 2 as celebrity cameos, who have also been featured in the previous seasons of the show.
While James is the co-owner of LA's famous Uncle Paulie's Deli, Zucherro is the owner of Chicago's real-life sandwich shop, Mr. Beef, which also serves as one of the inspirations for the show.
