The Boys Season 5 received a major update on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, as showrunner Eric Kripke revealed that the final season is almost done. The dark superhero satire franchise on Prime Video remains a major talking point as Gen V Season 2 concluded its eight-episode run. Given how the Gen V Season 2 finale concluded, we already know all the major players of the final season.

Thus, we already know that the final season of The Boys will stream on Prime Video sometime in 2026. So, it isn't surprising that the production team is nearly halfway done with season 5. This is why fans are elated with this new The Boys Season 5 update. In an Instagram post, Eric Kripke wrote the following caption:

"First, thank you for watching & loving @genv (and if you haven't watched yet, what the holy motherf****ng f**k are you waiting for? Quit doom scrolling and watch!) Second, we're hard at work finishing @theboystv Final Season. Here's me and some of the VFX team today. Editing is all done, we're roughly halfway finished with VFX, Music, Color. I'm really happy with how it's going and can't wait for you to see. We go out with a bang. COMING (reasonably) SOON. #GenV #TheBoys"

The Boys Season 5 update explained:

As mentioned earlier, the fifth season is still under post-production, as it was filmed between November 2024 and July 2025. Thus, it seems that the team behind The Boys Season 5 is right on schedule. We know that the fifth season is set roughly around six months after the Gen V Season 2 finale. If Kripke and team are halfway through the post-production of the fifth season, we can expect a release date announcement soon.

What do we know about the fifth season?

As of now, details about The Boys Season 5 are under wraps. However, The Boys Season 4 finale and Gen V Season 2 finale planted the seeds of the final season. The closing minutes of the season 4 finale show Homelander taking over the US and imprisoning everyone who opposed him. Thus, we see MM, Hughie, Kimiko, and Frenchie getting captured. But Billy Butcher and Starlight are the only ones who are currently free. The season 4 finale closes with Homelander finding out the place where his father, Soldier Boy, is kept unconscious.

Thus, as Gen V Season 2 begins, Homelander's oppressive regime is in full effect over the US. More importantly, it revealed that Homelander and Marie share the same origin: Project Odessa. Considering Marie survived Homelander's heat vision, it seems that she is the only one who could be a threat to the supe.

Thus, the good guys have an edge because Marie and her friends join Starlight and A-Train as a part of the resistance. But Soldier Boy's presence is still a major threat to the good guys, as Kripke already confirmed that Soldier Boy is teaming up with Homelander to avenge Billy Butcher's betrayal in the season 3 finale. Thus, the franchise has set up all the major players for The Boys Season 5, even if we don't know much about it yet.

"The Boys is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven, and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets."

As we wait for The Boys Season 5, the previous four seasons of The Boys and two seasons of Gen V are available to binge on Prime Video.
