The Gen V Season 2 finale, which streamed on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, ends on a rather hopeful note. After confronting Godolkin, Marie, Emma, Sam, Cate, and Annabeth are on the run. They are searching for Stan Edgar's bunker, but get lost. As the group explores possibilities, the streetlights begin to flicker, building up tension.
However, the source of the flickering is revealed to be none other than Starlight, and joining her is another supe who used to be in The Seven with her: A-Train. This scene in the closing minutes of Gen V Season 2 Episode 8, "Trojan," has a major implication for The Boys Season 5. The official logline for the episode reads:
"Hello {{FirstName}} {{LastName}}. You’ve been selected for the 10:30 AM session.** Please be on time. Once a session begins, students may not leave for any reason. Check in with Vance outside of the Advanced Seminar Room when you arrive. Good luck! ** By accepting this invitation, you assume inherent risks involved with this activity including but not limited to physical harm, injury, or death."
How did the Gen V Season 2 finale set up The Boys Season 5?
After Marie kills Godolkin by blowing him up, she and her allies (except for Polarity, who stays back) are on the run. While trying to locate Stan Edgar's bunker, the gang encounters Starlight and A-Train in the closing minutes of Gen V Season 2. While Annie January compliments the gang for how they handled Godolkin, A-Train advises the gang to be discreet and welcomes them to the resistance.
This ending is hopeful in this franchise since The Boys Season 3 finale, which saw Annie become a part of The Boys team after publicly quitting The Seven. But the Gen V Season 2 crew joining the final season of The Boys also has major implications for Prime Video's dark superhero satire.
The resistance now has a hemokinetic supe as its ally:
Gen V Season 2 revealed that Odessa is none other than Marie herself. The sixth episode further shines light on Project Odessa. Turns out a lot of babies died as a part of this project, with two major exceptions: Marie and Homelander. Thus, we finally know why she survived Homelander's heat vision in the season 1 finale. She is just as powerful as him.
Now, her joining the resistance means that her bloodbending powers make Marie the MVP on their side. Moreover, Marie discovered the true extent of her powers in the second season. In this season, she used her powers to incapacitate and sometimes kill her opponents in a wide range of ways, and more importantly, she discovered that she can even heal the most dangerous wounds.
This is why the season 2 finale of Gen V was much more optimistic than the season 1 finale, which saw Marie, Andre, Emma, and Jordan being imprisoned inside Elmira Center.
"School is back in session. As the rest of America adjusts to Homelander's iron fist, back at Godolkin University, the mysterious new Dean preaches a curriculum that promises to make students more powerful than ever. Cate and Sam are celebrated heroes, while Marie, Jordan, and Emma reluctantly return to college, burdened by months of trauma and loss. But parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between Humans and Supes, both on and off campus. The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realize. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it."
