As Ironheart nears its conclusion, a lot of fan theories are circulating regarding how it will end. One of these interesting theories revolves around the hood that helps Parker Robbins pull off his heists by letting him turn invisible by holding his breath. The theory suggests that the hood is cursed because of its source, the devil of the Marvel Universe, Mephisto, played by actor Sacha Baron Cohen.
Cohen's casting in the six-episode miniseries was announced by Deadline in an undisclosed role in October 2022. As of now, the actor's character name is not confirmed, but The Telegraph's negative review spoiled Sacha Baron Cohen's role in Ironheart as Mephisto. The theory posits that the cursed hood contains the souls of all the beings who used it previously.
Ironheart's cursed hood theory explained:
Parker Robbins and his crew are introduced right in the first episode of Ironheart, "Take Me Home". There, we see Parker using a red hood that allows him to turn invisible, but for that, he has to hold his breath. He and his crew rob some rich people. But the targets of his robbery are not random because they are tied to a tech company named Artworks, whose CEO is Arthur Robbins.
Now, the fan theory states that Arthur is Parker Robbins' father, who abandoned his son and the child's mother. Thus, Parker decided to get back at his father by stripping him of his wealth and power and taking over his empire. This is where Mephisto and his cursed hood come in. Sensing Parker's desperation, Mephisto offers the mortal a deal and hands him the red hood.
While it is unclear if Parker is aware of the hood's curse or not, one of the episodes from last week does show that Parker can hear some mysterious whispers inside his head due to the hood. Plus, it was also established in the first three episodes of Ironheart that some mysterious scars are spreading on Parker's body that he has covered with the help of tattoos. The scars suggest that Parker's soul is getting corrupted.
But it should be noted that at this point it is just a fan theory, and we will learn more about the series in a matter of a few hours.
What is Ironheart about?
The six-episode miniseries follows Riri Williams after she has returned from Wakanda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is expelled from MIT, forcing Riri to return to her home in Chicago. However, despite her expulsion, Riri wants to upgrade her suit, for which she lacks funds. Enter Parker Robbins and his gang of thieves, who offer her the tech position.
"Set after the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, Marvel Television’s “Ironheart” pits technology against magic when Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne)—a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins aka “The Hood” (Anthony Ramos)."
