The Lowdown is an upcoming American television series set in the noir style, focusing on a gritty reality. Created by Sterlin Harjo, it stars Ethan Hawke as Lee Raybon as the leading character.

The series will debut on September 23, 2025, with the first two episodes airing on FX. After the premiere, fans can catch up on the story every Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Hulu after the broadcast.

Interestingly, the show is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a place many action drama lovers know from Sylvester Stallone's Tulsa King TV series. And now this FX project will also dive into the same place, promising intrigue and a fight for power.

The Lodown will introduce viewers to Lee Raybon, a man who has been passionately running a bookstore. However, the bookstore isn't the only work Lee has been doing, as he leads a double life.

At the heart of The Lowdown is Ethan Hawke as Lee Raybon. His character is a struggling bookstore owner in Tulsa, but he’s not just a shopkeeper. Lee calls himself a "truthstorian," someone obsessed with digging into hidden truths.

In his spare time, he takes on the role of a citizen journalist, chasing conspiracies and questioning everything around him. His quiet life changes when a well-known local figure dies under suspicious circumstances.

2) Kaniehtiio Horn as Samantha

The next main figure in this series is Samantha, who happens to be Lee's ex-wife. The two parted ways due to conflicts and a strained relationship. However, they have to stay in touch for parenting their daughter, Francis.

As mentioned above, Francis is the only child of Samantha and Lee, played by talented actress Ryan Kiera. Francis is a teenager in The Lowdown, and just like her father, she loves to dig into truths and solve mysteries.

Nelson's Dale Washberg is another intriguing character who belongs to a powerful Oklahoma family. He's mysterious in nature and will play an important role when it comes to the investigations in the series.

Apart from the above-mentioned actors, the cast of this FX series includes:

Kyle MacLachlan as Donald Washberg: He's a part of the Washberg family and is aiming to become the governor in Tulsa.

Jeanne Tripplehorn as Betty Jo Washberg: Betty is married to Dale, but it will be later revealed that she has developed an interest in her brother-in-law.

Keith David as Marty: Marty is an old man in the show who gets interested in what Lee does.

The supporting cast also features Macon Blair, Tracy Letts, Eric Edelstein, Johnny Pemberton, and more. Together, these actors will bring a story packed with twists and drama.
