Looks like the promotions for Ironheart are slowly ramping up for its June 24, 2025, release. One of these promotional activities is the official banner for the series, as revealed by a fan @GaloyanSipan on their X (formerly Twitter) account. This banner has us hyped for the miniseries that consists of six episodes. Headlined by Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams as she embarks on the journey to take up her comic book mantle, "Ironheart".

The show was completed in November 2022, but only three years later, Ironheart is being made accessible to everyone through Disney+. Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming, TV, and animation, addressed this delay in his appearance in the Phase Zero podcast last year:

"Frankly, in all honesty, there was a mandate to kind of create as much as we could for Disney+ as quickly as we could," Winderbaum explained. "And then, there was a shift, and all of a sudden, we have to start spreading our release dates out. So, that really accounts for a lot of the delays. Now, we're using that time. We're not sitting idle. So, it stays in the oven. You can bake certain things a little more. It's actually, I think, ultimately, it's only going to make things better. But most of it's just frankly shrapnel from the business."

What does the Ironheart banner look like?

As stated before, the banners for Ironheart were posted online by a fan account on X (formerly Twitter). There are two textless banners with Riri's face in a gray background, with the Ironheart headpiece in front of her face. The third banner, which has text features the same image. This makes us excited and wonder how Riri will go toe-to-toe with The Hood, whose powers are mystical and magical.

While trying to bring down The Hood, Ironheart has to contend with the possible rise of another antagonist in the form of Alden Ehrenreich's "Joe McGillicuddy". While "Joe McGillicuddy" is not a character from the comics, many fans believe that the actor is playing Ezekiel "Zetke" Stane, the son of Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger, the central antagonist of 2008's Iron Man, the first MCU movie.

Considering that Riri is taking up Iron Man's mantle, it only makes sense that she has to confront someone linked to the first villain Iron Man faced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Apart from a possible antagonist, this series is linked to Iron Man (2008) in the way the first movie was filmed.

Brad Winderbaum revealed the makers used a practical suit similar to the 2008 movie in his November 2024 appearance on Phase Hero: A Film & TV Podcast.

“There’s a full practical suit. It doesn’t obviously do all the crazy things that the suit does but we used a lot of techniques that go all the way back to the first Iron Man film, where we actually had a practical suit on set. First of all, just even as a visual reference for the CG artists having the actual suit there, even if it had to do like CG things and open and close and stuff… it had all the perfect lighting reference, so the emulation is just spot on. It’s awesome. I mean I’m sure it’s going to be in the Marvel lobby in a few months.”

What is Ironheart about?

This solo Disney+ series will follow Riri Williams after she helped Shuri fight the mutant Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It seems that Riri is down on her luck in this series, and she is looking for some money. This is when she meets the charming but mysterious Parker Robbins/The Hood. The synopsis for the series reads:

"Set after the events of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, Marvel Television’s “Ironheart” pits technology against magic when Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne)—a young, genius inventor determined to make her mark on the world—returns to her hometown of Chicago. Her unique take on building iron suits is brilliant, but in pursuit of her ambitions, she finds herself wrapped up with the mysterious yet charming Parker Robbins aka “The Hood” (Anthony Ramos)."

Ironheart will premiere on Disney+ on June 24, 2025, with the first three episodes releasing together.
