In The Rainmaker Episode 5, we find Rudy more obsessed with proving Pritcher the murderer of Donnie Ray.
He wants to tell Dot about her son’s death, which was a murder. However, Bruiser stops him from saying anything to anyone since they don’t have enough evidence.
Furthermore, a face-off between Sarah and Rudy in court hampers their side of the case after Rudy attempts to make the judge permit them to use the Tissue Committee’s documents. Elsewhere, Jackie tries her best to escape from Pritcher's hold.

The Rainmaker Episode 5 recap: Rudy loses his cool in the court
In Episode 5 of The Rainmaker, Rudy tries to take the case into his own hands. However, Sarah becomes his perfect rival when it comes to arguing his points in the court. Sarah’s comments about the Tissue Committee’s documents being protected by HIPAA law leave Rudy puzzled.
In a desperate attempt to make the court permit them to use the documents, Rudy does what Bruiser specifically asked him not to do. He reveals to the court that they have a eyewitness who could prove that a nurse was involved in Donnie Ray's murder.
Bruiser has to take up the reins in her hands and tell the court not to consider Rudy’s comments. This gives Leo and his firm an upper hand, which, through Sarah, he uses.
The Rainmaker Episode 5 recap: Jackie’s escape plan fails, and Rudy gets fired
Other than being the cause of almost hampering the case in The Rainmaker Episode 5, Rudy still goes against Bruiser’s orders. In the episode, Jackie tries to escape and even gets hold of a cell phone, but cannot get help.
Later, she tells Pritcher that she has hidden his file in her ex-boyfriend, Charlie’s, home and takes him there. She tries to make Amber help her call 911 and escape from there. However, Amber tells her that she can take care of Pritcher on her own, but fails to do so as he attacks Amber and takes Jackie back with him.
Deck and Rudy also discover that Pritcher killed his mother the same way he kills all his victims. They learn that all of his victims were drug addicts, including his own mother and Donnie Ray. After learning about Amber being in a coma, Rudy decides to have Pritcher arrested, but without any solid evidence, he fails to convince the police.
This becomes the saturation point for Bruiser, who is annoyed by Rudy not following her orders and hampering their case further, and she fires him at the end.
The Rainmaker Episode 5 recap: Rudy finds Kelly in the hospital
As they were gathering information on Pritcher, Rudy noticed Cliff in the hospital. After following him around, he learns that Kelly was admitted there due to her injuries.
In the previous episode of The Rainmaker, Cliff had learned that Kelly was hiding money from him. Kelly, being admitted to the hospital, confirmed that she was abused by Cliff. Rudy meets her, hinting at a blossoming friendship or romance between the duo.
