The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 was expected to surprise fans with a few changes, and it finally does in the latest episode 8, titled "Last Kiss". Belly and Jeremiah called off the wedding after Conrad confessed his feelings.
Jere realized that Belly always loved Conrad, and she never looked at him the way she looked at her first love. This was important for Jere to learn, and it wouldn't have been possible without Susannah's letter.
In Episode 8 of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, the letter Conrad gave to Jeremiah, saying "This is from mom," was actually Conrad's. Susannah wrote that "I only ever got to see you in love once..." and she's grateful for it.
Jeremiah cries while reading the letter and understands how deeply Conrad and Belly are connected. And even Susannah wanted Conrad to marry her, and not Jeremiah. This way, it became one of the most emotional scenes for long-time fans of Jenny Han's novels and Prime Video series.
Keep reading to explore what Susannah wrote in the letter.
What did Susannah write in her letter to Conrad in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 8?
In Episode 8 of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Jeremiah goes missing on his wedding day. While Belly is freaked out and everyone is worried, Conrad knows that he must be at their mother's garden.
When Jere sees Conrad, he punches him. Despite the clash, Conrad doesn't fight back. He hands him the letter that Susannah wrote with Jeremiah's name on the envelope.
However, soon after opening it, Jere sees that it's Conrad's name inside the letter. He gets emotional while reading and then asks Conrad to leave forever. Jere returns the letter to Conrad, saying, "This is for you".
The moment Conrad reads it, he realizes that his mother always knew how he felt. Susannah wrote about his and Belly's love:
"Oh, the way she looked at you, it was like you were the only boy in the world. As a mother, there is no greater gift than to see her child be so dearly loved by another person."
She continues:
"Today, if there is even a fraction of the love I saw then, I am more than happy. I am overjoyed. Don't be afraid to tell her how very much she means to you."
Susannah asks Conrad to cook for Belly and be a good listener. She asks him to be brave and tell Belly that she's the only girl he has ever loved. Just like his brother, Conrad also felt incredibly emotional.
Susannah has written letters for all her beloved kids, including Belly, but she didn't open them in Episode 8. When Belly is packing up for Paris, Laurel picks up her letter, and this hints that Belly might open the letter when she gets married to Conrad.
She decided to complete her final year in Paris, which might give her the time she needs to heal. The episode's ending hinted at Belly's hopeful reunion with Conrad Fisher before The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 wraps up.
