Wednesday Season 2 fans and Little Monsters (a term for Lady Gaga's fanbase) joined forces to welcome Mother Monster in the sophomore season of the hit Netflix supernatural series, based on The Addams Family characters by cartoonist Charles Addams.

While Wednesday creators wanted to keep Lady Gaga's casting a secret, the news took the Internet by storm in November 2024. Excited fans were speculating that the best-selling music artists of all time would make a cameo appearance in Season 2, which was confirmed when Part 2 dropped on September 3, 2025.

Lady Gaga is certainly one of the biggest singer-songwriters in the entertainment industry, and even Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams) swears by it. In her recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Zeta-Jones was all praise for her newest co-star in Wednesday Season 2:

''I think she's the talent of our generation...How much talent is packed in-- you hope she's gonna be as wonderful as you want her to be in your mind's eye, because you're such a fan. And she is.''

In addition to her spooky appearance in Wednesday Season 2, Lady Gaga also released a new original song, The Dead Dance, on September 3, which was also featured in Episode 7.

More on this in our story.

Wednesday Season 2 star Catherine Zeta-Jones reveals her fangirl moment with Lady Gaga

Catherine Zeta-Jones was all fangirling over her Wednesday Season 2 star Lady Gaga in her recent appearance on the Seth Meyers show. Seasoned Wednesday fans and Little Monsters were excited to see the OG goth girl in Netflix's dark supernatural series, and it looks like we were not the only ones.

Speaking about guest stars on the sophomore season of Wednesday, Mother Addams naturally mentioned Mother Monster, aka, the biggest guest star in the Season 2 cast. Recalling her first interaction with Lady Gaga on set, Catherine Zeta-Jones revealed her being star-struck with the singer as:

''I was like a 14-year-old...I was like a sedated Beatle fan from 1961. All I wanted to do was scream and say, I love you. And I had to be really, like, very nice to meet you. And inside, everything was bursting.''

She added:

''I mean, she's someone, by the way, lovely in person, like, incredibly down to Earth, but you're still very hyper-aware that you're talking to Lady Gaga the whole time.''

Lady Gaga appeared in a hilarious Freaky Friday sequence in Wednesday Season 2

While fans were speculating about Gaga's character on all the dark corners of the Internet, the Netflix Tudum event in May 2025 revealed that the Die with a Smile singer will play the character of Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary and deceased Nevermore teacher, who appears as a pale and ghostly apparition, all donned in white. Gaga's spooky character was on-brand with her demeanor and added a darkly supernatural aesthetic to Wednesday Season 2.

The ghostly apparition of Rosaline instructs Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) to place her hand on an enchanted flame, and it will give her powers back. However, the cloak-donning lady warns our protagonist that the spell must not be broken at any cost. And we all know how that goes. As soon as Wednesday plants her palm above the flame, Enid's (Emma Myers) arrival breaks the spell, and Wednesday pulls her hand back.

After the two pass out, Rosaline ominously announces, "There will be a price to pay," which was a cue for the roommates to exchange bodies in a hilarious Freaky Friday sequence. While Gaga's Rosaline retreated to her spooky quarters, Wednesday and Enid woke up to find their bodies swapped with one another, which was inarguably one of the most hilarious sequences in Wednesday Season 2.
