The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, the highly anticipated prequel of The Terminal List, has finally premiered on Prime Video. The show delves into the origin story of Ben Edwards, revealing how he turned from a Navy SEAL to a CIA agent.

The series brings back iconic actors from the original series, including Taylor Kitsch as Ben Edwards, Chris Pratt as James Reece, and Tom Hopper as Raife Hastings. Co-creator David DiGilio has now revealed that Chris Pratt was actually the one who came up with the idea of the prequel.

The actor, who plays the lead in The Terminal List, told the creators that due to his busy schedule, he would not be able to spare time for a second season of the show soon. And hence, he asked the team to make a prequel show about Ben’s story instead, which resulted in the creation of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.

David DiGilio reveals how Chris Pratt came up with the idea of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf

The first season of The Terminal List came out in July 2022, and the show was renewed for a second season in February 2023. However, considering his busy Hollywood schedule, Chris Pratt was aware that he would not be able to give much time to the show, and there would be a huge gap between the two seasons.

As he did not want to leave the show’s fans hanging, he suggested that the team create a prequel show tracing the origin of Ben Edwards, who had one of the most interesting arcs in the original series. Hence, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf went into production in 2023. Talking about the whole scenario, David DiGilio said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

“[Chris Pratt] was actually the one who realized, based on his schedule, that we were going to have a long time between Terminal List season one and season two. So he didn’t want the fans to be left waiting, and he was like, ‘We should do Ben’s story.’”

Pratt then agreed to reprise his role as James Reece in the prequel series. However, while he plays the lead role in the original show, he appears in a recurring capacity in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, starring in a total of three episodes. Revealing how the actor took out time from his tight schedule, DiGilio said:

“At the time, Chris said, ‘I’m going to be in it, but just to be clear, this is not my show. This is Taylor’s show. Chris wanted to be there for him in the way that so many great actors have been there for Chris, and that was very cool to see.”

Dark Wolf premiered on Prime Video on August 27, 2025, and airs new episodes weekly. Meanwhile, The Terminal List Season 2 has gone into development, but its release date has not been announced yet.

Apart from Chris Pratt, Taylor Kitsch, and Tom Hopper, Dark Wolf stars Dar Salim as Mohammed Farooq, Shiraz Tzarfati as Tal Varon, Robert Wisdom as Jed Haverford, Luke Hemsworth as Jules Landry, and Rona-Lee Shimon as Eliza Perash.
