The Winning Try Episode 11 recap: Ju Ga-ram collapses

In the previous episode of The Winning Try, Ga-ram takes the blame to save Seong-jun and reveals his health condition to the school. The disclosure gives Seong a chance to fire Ga-ram and others who have helped him keep it a secret, for good. While Ga-ram saves I-ji by telling her she didn’t know, Principal Kang takes the responsibility.

But before a decision would be made about Ga-ram’s future as a coach, he collapses. The doctor informs him that he cannot wait any longer for the surgery he has been postponing. This results in him being absent from the team’s games at the nationals.

The Winning Try Episode 11 recap: The rugby team boycotts the nationals

Initially, the team loses their temper at Seong-jun for doing something that ended up putting their coach’s job at risk in this episode of The Winning Try. While they go and meet Ga-ram in the hospital, their coach asks them to trust themselves and their training, as he might not be able to watch their matches.

Later, Seong-jun is threatened by Vice Principal Seong after he reveals that he is aware of the person taking steroids, and orders him to select a new coach. Later, when he brings up the selection of a new coach, his team refuses and emphasizes that they just want to play with Ga-ram.

The team then plans to boycott nationals if Ga-ram is fired. They demand sick leave on his behalf and reiterate that no new coach should be hired. Principal Kang tries to warn them about the risks of the decision, but the rugby team does not budge.

This prompts Principal Kang to resign from her position and give it to VP Seong, leaving the team and Ga-ram alone.

The Winning Try Episode 11 recap: U-jin wins tryouts while Ga-ram goes into surgery

Principal Kang's leaving Hangyang High was one of the emotional moments in the penultimate episode of The Winning Try, as she was one of the few teachers left who cared about the well-being and growth of the athletes rather than just medals. However, her former students choose not to let her leave in disgrace. With Heung-nam relaying information, they plan on taking Nak-gyeon out by bringing his fraudulent activities to the fore.

Elsewhere, U-jin returns and wins the tryouts, which results in Seong and Nak-gyeon being upset as Seol-hyun lost. However, Seol-hyun feels ashamed of her father after she sees Gyu-won scolding Seong. She confesses that she chose shooting, assuming that cheating would be difficult, making the game fair. But, as it turns out, her father ruined it for her. Other than Seol-hyun, U-jin also confronts her mother and tells her that all of her wins and medals would only be hers and not belong to her mother.

At the end of Episode 11 of The Winning Try, the rugby team, following their coach’s plan, goes on to win all their matches. Waiting for the finals, the rugby team is anticipating their coach after he promised to see them as they face Daesang High. However, at the end, Ga-ram’s surgery undergoes complications, and his heart stops.
