Sophie is new in town after she moved with her husband and son in The Hunting Wives episode 1. She is shocked to attend a fundraiser event put up by Jed Banks, who is also running for government, actually being an NRA party. With all the guns and shooting, she feels uncomfortable.

However, it's Jed’s speech, which gets Sophie's nerves as she couldn’t stop herself from questioning him during his speech. He speaks about guns being available to all by using the case of a young girl’s disappearance from their community, and how they should be able to defend themselves from the African-Americans who cause trouble.
