"They're a little wary of each other" - Outlander: Blood of My Blood star talks about the "wonderful bond" between Julia and Brian

Outlander: Blood of My Blood premiered on August 8, 2025, and is the prequel to Outlander. The official synopsis of the show, as provided by Rotten Tomatoes, states,

"Outlander: Blood of My Blood" is a romantic saga that spans across time. From the battlefields of World War I to the rugged Highlands of 18th-century Scotland, two fated couples must resist forces trying to separate them, intersecting in unexpected and surprising ways.

While the main theme of the series is romance, similar to the original Outlander, Hermione Corfield, who plays Julia Moriston, recently discussed the sibling-like relationship viewers will observe between her and Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy). Talking to ScreenRant about how these two characters perceive each other, Corfield said, while they are:

wary of each other

They do form a beautiful bond as well, as the show progresses.

By the end of Season 1, Episode 2, Julia and Brian have already met, with the former shown working as a maid at the latter’s house. Discussing how the two initially started since their introduction, Corfield said in the same interview,

“Yes, at the beginning, they're a little wary of each other, when she first arrives. She's obviously quite anonymous, because she's part of the newest of Lovat's maid servants, and as her circumstances change a little bit, they're wary of each other. And then, they have this wonderful bond a little later into the first season, and it feels quite like a sibling dynamic, I would say.”

She further added,

“They have each other's backs, and I think they recognize in each other that they're yearning for people that they can't be with at that point. I think that it's so lovely that they recognize that in each other, and try and help as much as they can.”

Her words provide a clear sense of how the relationship between Julia and Brian will develop moving forward. It’s also evident that they will not be involved romantically, and their friendship will remain strong and lasting. Despite a show that heavily emphasizes romance, Julia and Brian’s friendship will offer a fresh perspective on relationships that go beyond the traditional concept of love.
