I Love LA Episode 4 proved to be quite important for Alani, played by True Whitaker. The show has featured several guest stars since its beginning, but the recent episode was extra special for Alani as it brought her face-to-face with her celebrity crush, Elijah Wood.

The ‘nepobaby’ of the group reaches Elijah’s home when she is invited to the party of an influencer. She is star-struck to see Elijah as she is a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings and Frodo Baggins.

To make sure that she gets the feel right, True Whitaker locked herself in for a weekend and only watched The Lord of the Rings. Not only that, but she also learned a bit of Elvish language to use in the show. Talking about how she prepared for the role of Alani in I Love LA, Whitaker said in an interview with Decider:

“As an actor, I don’t like to ever judge my character. So I was like, ‘Okay, so let’s understand her.’ So I locked in, spent my weekend watching all of Lord of the Rings, linear, learned a little bit of Elvish. It was like an improv of mine, which I feel proud of […] I felt close to Alani.”

True Whitaker talks about working with Elijah Wood on I Love LA

In I Love LA Episode 4, Girl's Girl, an influencer hosts a party at Elijah Wood's house. As the lead group heads to the party, Maia and Alani find Elijah upstairs and try to convince him to have a threesome, which he refuses. True Whitaker opened up about sharing the screen with the actor during the interview.

She could relate to Alani’s feelings for Elijah, as she had just binged all The Lord of the Rings films and was actually feeling butterflies in her stomach on meeting the actor:

“Working with him was awesome, and watching him that whole weekend before [in LOTR] in preparation, brought the butterflies that I needed to connect to Alani.”
