tvN has released a first look at its new legal drama, Law and the City, which premieres July 5, 2025. This series will mark the much-anticipated return of Lee Jong Suk to the small screen by playing Ahn Ju Hyeong, an experienced, well-respected lawyer with a brilliant mind.

As seen in the clip available on YouTube, the charming lawyer is seen having a meal with four of his co-workers at a restaurant. He is also observed Moon Ga-young's Kang Hee Ji, who has recently joined the often chaotic legal world.

While the teaser gives us a small taste of the lives of 5 associate lawyers in the frantic world of Seocho’s legal district, the episodes of Law and the City will dive into their journey as they handle their professional hurdles in conjunction with their personal relationships.

With a concept highlighting the day-to-day process of being a legal practitioner, the drama's approach seems to deliver a new perspective on the genre. Rather than focusing on standard court-based hurdles, it layers the storytelling with a focus on characters.

In Law and the City, Lee Jong Suk brings Ahn Ju Hyeong's character to life. He works as a lawyer with almost nine years of experience at Kyungmin Law Firm and has seen many of their high-profile cases.

Ju Hyeong is a logical individual who believes in facts rather than feelings and actions. This moral ambiguity is clearly displayed in his character, which challenges the traditional image of a justice-driven attorney.

His reasons for entering the legal field did not stem from wanting to fight for the underdog, but because of his fascination with logic and casework. Ju Hyeong, however, does not want to start his own firm, nor does he dream of heading to a courthouse.

The lawyer is perfectly content with his position at the law firm until cracks begin to show up in his life. So, what really happens? Fans will have to dive into Law and the City on July 5 to get all the answers!

As of now, the creators of Law and the City have not officially confirmed a romantic narrative between Ahn Joo-hyung (played by Lee Jong Suk) and Kang Hee-ji (played by Moon Ga-young). However, the two might likely end up liking each other since Joo-hyung will work closely with the newbie.

While Joo-hyung is mostly driven by facts, Hee-ji has a different approach. Their contrasting personalities set the stage for an opposites attract dynamic, so fans shouldn't lose hope on the two becoming a couple.

Additionally, the teaser hints at the drama majorly focusing on the friendships and similar life experiences of these five associates, especially during the lunch breaks. This setting provides ample opportunity for personal relationships to develop organically.
