Twelve Episode 1 kicks off with a look into the past when the creator blessed 12 angels with the superpower of different zodiac animals. These angels carried God's light with them and fought some of the most evil forces.

Before sealing them inside the Hellmouth, these angels sacrificed their powers. In the present time, we meet Tae-san, the leader of the angels who are now living as humans. What's special about Tae-san is that he wears clothes that explain he has the powers of a tiger.

The group is running the Angel Capital group, which only offers loans to people with criminal records or those running gangs in the country. None of the angels has ever failed in collecting debt, as it's easier for them to fight bad guys and dethrone them.

Just like Tae-san, other angel-turned-humans also try to balance their lives. Mal-sook, Won-seung, and Kang-ji make a living as debt collectors; the cunning Monkey Won-seung dreams of the heroic leadership of a boss, while Kang-ji, the faithful Dog, fights with incredible aggression but also has compassion for humans.

Mir, with the dragon's powers, works in a museum teaching children about the history of the angels. When she has her prophetic dreams, she tries to continue to be a part of Tae-san's life, but is separated from everyone.

Bang-wool, representing the snake, is an oriental medicine professional, medicates people. Do-ni the pig helps with Bang-wool, and in intense situations, she surprises opponents by doing unbelievable gymnastics in fights. Jwi-dol, the rat, was trained in tech work and uses his instincts to help the group activities.

Interestingly, the twelve angels also have one human ally, Ma-rok, who was selected by God to manage them. Ma-rok manages their affairs but chooses to stay close to Mir, going so far as to borrow money from Tae-san to buy her new clothes.

In fact, Tae-san is willing to show his soft side as well when he sees old friends Geum-soon, who runs a tteokbokki stand, and Man-book, whose family he rescued when he was younger.

As the angels continue to maintain their dual identities hidden, trouble is beginning to surface. At a construction site, researchers discover Paleolithic relics that emit dangerous energy surges.

At the same time, a ghostly cult of black-clothed people is conducting sinister blood rituals. Their intention is to resurrect Ogwi (Park Hyung-sik), a monstrous spirit with red eyes and enormous black wings. The rocks break apart, green light bursts forth, and Ogwi rises, a sign that a deadly foe has returned.

Ogwi isn't just a monster. He's bent on collecting soul stones from each of the twelve angels. These stones can revive an even bigger evil and plunge the world into chaos.

The episode ends with Ogwi opening his wings, an ominous sign that the angels can expect any remaining peace to end shortly. The angels must start their battle against evil, which has been sleeping for a long time.
