Twisted Metal Season 2 Episode 1 recap: John and Quiet reunite, while Sweet Tooth continues his killing spree

Peacock premiered its much-anticipated Twisted Metal Season 2, which is based on a popular vehicular combat video game of the same name.

The sophomore season kicked off with the return of Anthony Mackie's John Doe and Stephanie Beatriz's Quiet, who are currently living different lives apart. John, who was kidnapped by Raven in the Season 1 finale and was brought to his childhood home in the city, is being trained for the upcoming vehicular tournament.

On the other hand, Quiet has joined forces with Dolls, a group of killer women who aim to destroy the supply lines between megacities. Their leader, Krista, is determined to disrupt the status quo between city insiders and outsiders by destroying these megacities' walls.

When Calypso, a mysterious man, announces a winner-takes-all vehicular tournament, Krista finds a way to infiltrate the city and take everything down with her. As Quiet prepares to strike with the Dolls, John prepares to escape Raven's captivity, leading to an unlikely reunion of the past partners.

Twisted Metal Season 2 Episode 1 recap: John's escape leads him to Quiet and his long-lost sister

The Twisted Metal Season 2 premiere reintroduces John Doe, who is now spending his time in Raven's captivity in New San Francisco. Since he has tried escaping from his captivity multiple times, John is heavily guarded by Raven's men. She advises John to prepare for the upcoming tournament, as it is his only way out, and to help Raven save Kelly, his friend, who has been in a coma for 20 years.

While waiting for the tournament, John sifts through his sister's collection of The Baby-Sitters Club books to pass his time. However, when he cannot find Book 89, he begins a search of their childhood home, where he finds his sister's diary with a secret map of the sewers.

Using his sister's map and the help from one of the guards, John finally escapes from Raven's captivity in Twisted Metal Season 2 Episode 1. He uses a parked ambulance (with a comatose Kelly) to escape to the outside of the city, until he is stopped by Quiet and the other dolls.

While the ambulance is well-equipped to sustain bullets, Quiet launches a rocket that hits John, and he is disappointed to see her with the other Dolls. While John and Quiet had an unlikely reunion in the Season 2 premiere, it is hinted that Krista might be John's long-lost sister.

Twisted Metal Season 2 Episode 1 recap: Sweet Tooth finally meets his match

The other half of the Twisted Metal Season 2 Episode 1 catches up with Sweet Tooth and Stu, who is still a killer intern with the clown.

The Academy of Sweet Tooth aims to kill all the fearsome killers on the loose in their area, winning this title for themselves. They hear about the legend of Big Baby, a deadly killer who wiped out the entirety of a town's population in one day, winning the title coveted by Sweet Tooth.

Big Baby certainly lives up to his name; he uses an umbilical cord with a mace attached to it as his weapon. While Sweet Tooth and Stu easily eliminate him, they hear about an even fearsome killer on the loose in Mississippi.

Twisted Metal Season 2 Episode 1 ends with Sweet Tooth making a plan with Stu, which will bring all these fearsome killers to him, suggesting the beginning of the titular vehicular tournament announced by Calypso.
