In Episode 3 of Unforgotten Season 6, DCI Jess confronts Juliet about Gerry’s affair and problems in their marriage, which she vehemently denies. With more investigation, Jess and Sunny learn that Markaj had been paid back his money, so he did not have any reason to kill Gerry.

Unforgotten Season 6 Episode 3 recap: Marty Bains is brought to the station for questioning
In the previous Episode of Unforgotten Season 6, Jess and Sunny learned about a former employee of Gerry’s pub attacking him. In this episode, it is revealed that it was Marty who moved to his parents' home in Kent after a week of Gerry’s murder.
As he did not want to let his bedridden mother see him being questioned, he came to the station. He reveals to the detectives that his relationship with Gerry was good at the beginning due to their right-leaning political stance.
However, it got messy when his father informed him that Gerry had applied for furlough pay during the pandemic in his name, but did not pay him. He confronted Gerry in February 2021. He claimed that Gerry told him he would give him back his money, but the conversation became heated, and he slammed Gerry against the wall.

As they move further with their investigation in Episode 3 of Unforgotten Season 6, they learn more about Gerry Cooper. In their talks with the property management company that looked after Gerry’s rental properties, they found out that Gerry was a violent person and often engaged in arguments with his tenants, who are mostly asylum seekers.
The company’s employee also tells them about the Dowari family, with whom Gerry had a long-standing feud. He also gives them Asif’s number, who acted as the family’s interpreter.

While Juliet denied Gerry having an affair in Episode 3 of Unforgotten Season 6, the detectives still kept looking into it due to multiple people claiming that he was indeed having an affair. They also learned about Gerry assaulting one of his friends due to their differing views on Brexit.
They also found out about a forum named UK United that Gerry had created in 2016, depicting his support for right-wing issues such as anti-immigration. While going through the forum, they find a video in which they spot conservative journalist Mel Ricci hanging out with Gerry in a pub.
Furthermore, the episode of Season 6 also revealed Jess forgiving her sister to move on and Sunny getting entangled with a new romance in his life with coroner Leanne.
