Netflix’s Untamed dropped all six episodes on July 17, 2025, and has become the new favorite to binge-watch from the streaming giant. The story of Untamed revolved around federal agent, Kyle Turner (Eric Bana), who is investigating the death of Jane Doe, who fell to her death after falling off El Capitan in the Yosemite National Park.
With just six episodes, the miniseries depicts a perfect murder mystery where initially everyone seems unaware of the crimes, but as secrets unravel, everyone around comes into the fold of suspicion. In the finale episode, Kyle survives being killed by Shane, and it is also revealed how Caleb’s death and Sanderson’s disappearance connect them.
Furthermore, Kyle’s investigation into Lucy leads him to learn the shocking truth about her death, which involved his closest friend and mentor, Paul Souter (Sam Neill).

Untamed Episode 6 recap: Shane and Kyle's showdown ends brutally
The final episode of Untamed begins with Shane trying to kill Kyle after he finds out about Shane’s involvement in the illegal drugs operation, and also discovers guns and how he might be the last person Lucy saw before her death. He followed Kyle and shot him in the abdomen, but as he was about to shoot him one more time, Naya came to Kyle’s rescue and shot Shane.
These happened to be Shane's final moments, as when he tries to fight back, she shoots him in the chest, killing him instantly. Kyle is taken to the hospital, where he wakes up, relieving Naya and Paul.
Untamed Episode 6 recap: Sean Sanderson’s murder
One of the biggest reveals of the final episodes of Untamed was the disappearance and murder of Sean Sanderson and how he was connected to Kyle, Jill, and Shane. It is revealed that the hatred that Kyle had for Shane comes from a personal reason that has to do with his son, Caleb’s death.
Jill (Rosemarie DeWitt) finally decides to come clean about her guilt and reveal the truth to her now husband, Scott. She tells him that Sean was the one who killed Caleb, and they found out about it through Shane’s motion sensing cameras in the forest, which picked up Sean torturing and killing their son. While Kyle wanted to investigate more before arresting Sanderson, Jill took a harsher step.
She decided to pay Shane to kill Sean. Other than losing a child, this became a bigger reason for their broken marriage. Jill asks Scott to decide if he still wants to be with her, as she has already been living with the guilt of what she had done and lost.
Untamed Episode 6 recap: The murder mystery ends with Paul Souter being the main culprit
The most shocking part of Untamed was the revelation of how Lucy died and who must have been involved in it. Kyle's investigation on Lucy took him to Nevada, where Lucy used to live in a foster home with the Gibbs family. He tracked out Faith Gibbs, who was the daughter of the owner of the foster home.
She reveals to Kyle that Lucy did live with them for a while under the name of Grace and had run away from the abusive home. But before running away, she had also shared an important detail about her life, telling them about her father being a police officer–an important clue.
Next, we see Kyle with Paul, telling him that he sent for another DNA test for Lucy and found out about him hiding Kate, Paul’s daughter, from the list. This finally prompts Paul to tell him that Lucy was indeed his daughter and not Rory’s. He tells Kyle that he had sent her to the Foster home, but had no idea it was abusive. She ran away from there and came back to Yosemite and began blackmailing him for money.
After more persuasion, Paul reveals to Kyle that he shot Lucy in the leg to stop her so that they could talk, but as she was half-dazed and running away, she fell off the cliff and died. He pleads with Kyle to save him and cover his tracks as he did to protect his family, when Kyle reminds him that Lucy was his family.
Kyle then decides to turn him in, but Paul was not ready for that, and he shot himself, committing suicide, to avoid losing everything. After bringing Lucy’s case to justice, Kyle finally decides to move on and leave Yosemite for good by giving the reins of the park and his beloved horse to Naya, who has become the perfect replacement for Kyle at the park.
