"Very very scary": Holmes Family Rescue's Sarah reveals how their basement doesn't feel "safe" anymore

Holmes Family Rescue Season 3 Episode 6 aired on July 9, 2025, on HGTV. The latest episode featured homeowners Sarah and Matt. After undergoing years of renovation, they encountered issues in the basement of their home.

Cast members, including Mike Holmes, Michael Holmes Jr., and Sherry Holmes, go on to renovate homes and help families lead happy and healthy lives in their own homes.

When Sarah revealed how the dirty basement had affected her health, particularly her breathing, she shared:

"It was very, very scary. It was just a nightmare. The doctors say it definitely could be environmentally related, because there's moisture coming into the basement. There's, of course, bacteria. There's mildew. It doesn't feel like a safe place to meet."

Holmes Family Rescue Season 3 Episode 6: Homeowners Sarah and Matt share their concerns

The latest episode of the reality show, Flooded by Fear, featured homeowners Matt and Sarah. After facing issues regarding their basement, they were concerned about their family's health.

Things escalated recently when Sarah faced breathing issues. When Holmes Family Rescue's Mike asked Sarah if it had affected her, she responded:

"I was in hospital for two weeks because my oxygen (level) was very low."

Sherry Holmes said that it was a "long time." Sarah added that it was "very, very" scary for her. She referred to that entire situation as a nightmare. The homeowner also recalled that doctors had mentioned as a possibility that it could have been environmentally related.

She said that there could be moisture coming into the basement, containing bacteria and more. In her confession, homeowner Sarah said that she didn't want to get "sicker" than she already was.

Additionally, she was worried about her husband and daughter. She confessed that she didn't want them to go through what she had just been through.

"I definitely don't want to get sicker than I am today, or my husband and my daughter to get sick, because I love them so much. And I wouldn't want to go through what I went through, and it was very scary. I'm still scared now," confessed Sarah.

Seeing how the previous renovation didn't work out well, the Holmes Family Rescue team took up the challenge. To help Sarah and Matt stay healthy along with their daughter, they got started with the work right away.

Starting from finding the root issue to restoring a healthy environment inside their home, Mike, Sherry, and their teammates began their work. As the Holmes family took the reins into their hands to help Sarah and Matt have a healthy living space, the episode featured struggles and how they were solved.

With determination and a plan in place, Holmes Family Rescue started working on its latest project.
