HBO and Sky are waging a new kind of War! This is not on the battlefield, but in the courtrooms of London’s ruthless lawyers. And this one’s already looking like Suits on a triple espresso. The legal drama from Lupin creator George Kay has added an avalanche of stars to its cast, including Ted Lasso’s Nick Mohammed, The Thursday Murder Club’s Celia Imrie, and The Souvenir’s Honor Swinton Byrne. So this "divorce case of the century" is only getting juicier!
The upcoming HBO and Sky series, titled War (and stylized in all caps), centers on two elite London law firms (Cathcarts and Taylor & Byrne), who lock horns in a divorce between tech mogul Morgan Henderson (Dominic West) and his estranged movie-star wife Carla Duval (Sienna Miller).
According to the official logline:
"Each side is certain they’ll win. But as the case spirals and loyalties fracture, reputations are on the line, and everyone’s playing to win."
What happens in HBO's War?
If the premise sounds explosive, this is just Season 1. Variety reports that the show has already been renewed for a Season 2, which will also be in an anthology format as every episode will tackle a different case.
Joining West and Miller are Phoebe Fox (The Great) as Serena Byrne, half of the legal duo at Taylor & Byrne, and James McArdle (Mare of Easttown) as her partner, Nicholas Taylor. The rivals are Nina Sosanya (Baby Reindeer) as Beatrice "Queen Bea" Ubosi, a fierce lawyer. Pip Torrens (Succession) and Archie Renaux (Alien: Romulus) round out the lineup with Aran Murphy and others.
The recruits are: Imrie, who will appear as Budgie, Mohammed as Michael Stefanou, and Swinton Byrne as Bella Croft. Also joining the cast are Shaheen Jafargholi, Rose Williams, Miles Jupp, Camille Coduri, Akiya Henry, and Steve Furst.
Behind the scenes, George Kay is teaming up again with director Ben Taylor (Sex Education. The show is being co-produced by New Pictures and Observatory Pictures for HBO and Sky, with a stacked EP team including Willow Grylls (The Missing) and Megan Spanjian (Bad Sisters).
Filming details and where to watch
Filming began in September 2025 at OMA X Film Studios in Enfield, London, which has become a hotbed for prestige TV. War will air on Sky and streaming platform NOW in the U.K., Ireland, and Italy. US audiences will find it on HBO and HBO Max. It’ll also stream on Max in Australia and across Asia.
This HBO-caliber production is about ambition and ego. It is therefore somewhat similar to The Good Wife, but more brutal and British.
By episode three, War might easily become the kind of show that inspires X (formerly Twitter) memes, Reddit debates, and at least one "Who are you rooting for?" poll, given its cast and premise. War looks like it's going to be the next legal force that we can't ignore, no matter whether you're interested in the courtroom fireworks or just the conflict between West and Miller!
So, stay tuned for War!
