Wednesday Season 2 introduced a character who, other than Enid, really and obsessively wanted to be a close friend of Jenna Ortega’s character. Evie Templeton’s Agnes, the number 1 fan of Wednesday, resorted to even harming Enid (Emma Myers) to gain her idol’s attention and impress her.
Aside from her elaborate plans to impress Wednesday, Agnes’s animosity with Enid was also the highlight of the season. They did not like each other in the beginning, but as they got more involved in Wednesday’s life and her activities, they grew closer and even performed together in the annual Masquerade ball.
In a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, both stars shared that although they loved being friends, the back and forth that goes on between their characters was also a fun part of portraying those characters, with contrasting personalities.
More on this in our story.
Wednesday Season 2: Evi Templteon and Emma Myers talk about their enemies-to-friends arc
After the events of Season 1, Wednesday learned that she had become a celebrity at Nevermore. Templeton’s Agnes was her fan and wanted to be friends with her. From trying to injure Enid to being rescued by her and Wednesday, their relationship changed into so much more than just being enemies.
Their camaraderie was another reason to look forward to Wednesday Season 2, due to their passing nasty and unpleasant comments toward each other. But that also became a huge part of their relationship as viewers loved that back and forth between the duo.
In a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, Templeton and Myers discussed their enemies-to-friends arc and shared that it was fun depicting the reciprocal interaction between their characters. Templteon shared:
"It was fun. I always found it funny to go from having a nice, chatty conversation with Emma where we’d just be just talking about things. There was even a scene in the clock tower once where we went from doing the ballet barre on one of the railings to me having to try and kill her and Bruno. (Laughs.) So it was definitely fun having a back and forth with that."
Emma Myers also added to the comment and shared that she loved being friends with Evie’s character. She said:
"I love going back and forth with Evie, but I do love being friends. Enid’s always arguing with somebody, so it’s nice to not have to by the end of the season."
Agnes and Enid might have been enemies at the beginning; however, their becoming friends later was a huge moment in Wednesday Season 2 because with Ortega’s character’s limited powers, she wouldn't have been able to deal with Tyler’s family.
From discovering Isaac’s attempt to cure his sister in Willow Hill to trying to kill Wednesday, Enid and Agnes were a crucial part of season 2. Furthermore, it was delightful to watch the opposite personalities, one mischievous and the other quirky and fiery, finally becoming friends and working together.
