Paramount+’s NCIS: Tony & Ziva has brought back the titular couple to the screens. The NCIS spin-off series chronicles the journey of the fan-favorite special agents as they co-parent their daughter in Europe, but have to flee their home due to a deadly threat.
The relationship between Tony and Ziva remained a highlight of the mothership series for years. After an on-and-off romance, Ziva was presumed dead, and Tony departed the agency to take care of his daughter.
Now that the duo is back in the franchise, fans are wondering when the events of NCIS: Tony & Ziva take place. Well, the show is set in 2025, but it often flashes back to 2020, when the couple met after years of being apart.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva is set in September and October 2025
The main storyline of NCIS: Tony & Ziva is set in the fall of 2025. It begins in September and moves into October. At this point, Tony and Ziva are living in Europe and co-parenting their daughter, Tali. However, their family life is disturbed when they are accused of stealing money from Interpol, and they are forced to run from their home.
Meanwhile, the narrative also goes back to 2020 through flashback sequences. This was the year when Ziva officially reunited with Tony and Tali in France, years after leaving NCIS. The flashbacks reveal how the family adjusted to living together while Ziva struggled with her past traumas.
Apart from the main storyline and flashbacks, NCIS: Tony & Ziva also gives a glimpse of the couple’s initial years together: from their first meeting in 2005 to their emotional goodbye in 2013, and the heartbreaking events of 2016 when Ziva was presumed dead and Tony discovered that he was a father.
Hence, the events of NCIS: Tony & Ziva take place mostly in September and October 2025, but the show uses frequent flashbacks to 2020 in the initial episodes to establish what happened with the couple while they were away from NCIS.
The series brings back Michael Weatherly as Anthony DiNozzo and Cote de Pablo as Ziva David. They are joined by Isla Gie as Tali DiNozzo, Lara Rossi as Sophie Summers, Anne-Marie Waldeck as Fruzsi Gortva, and Amita Suman as Claudette Caron.
The rest of the cast includes Julian Ovenden as Jonah Markham, Maximilian Osinski as Boris Peskov, James D'Arcy as Henry Rayner-Hunt, Julian Ovenden as Jonah Markham, Sean Pertwee as Aaron Graves, Nassima Benchicou as Martine Aranow, Emmanuel Bonami as Pierre Galimard, and Terence Maynard as Dr. Lang.

“Tony and Ziva have been raising their daughter, Tali, together. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them, and maybe even learn to trust each other again so they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.”
