The Originals: Meg Foster played Josephine LaRue

Meg Foster’s LaRue was the regent of the Nine Covens and a powerful witch with a heartbreaking backstory. It was revealed in The Originals that due to her mother’s curse, LaRue couldn’t play her violin. Her hands were now swollen, as a punishment for trying to elope with a jazz musician.
In Episode 15 of The Originals Season 2, Elijah, accompanied by Gia, visits LaRue to convince her to help by giving information about Eva Sinclair, whose body Rebekah has been possessing. While LaRue hated the original vampire family due to the brutal history that they shared with the witches, she still agreed to help the vampires after being impressed by Gia’s attempt to play pieces of Beethoven and Eddie South.
Later in Episode 17 of The Originals Season 2, she, along with Davina Claire, becomes one of the victims of Eva, who was trying to complete the Rite of Nines, and was saved by Freya Mikaelson.
The Originals: LaRue’s death becomes a bad omen for the Mikaelson family
Meg Foster appeared in five episodes of The Originals and, from her first appearance to her death, she was a crucial character for the Mikaelson family’s storyline. She helped in making a safe house for Hope magic-free, to keep the baby safe from harm.
Furthermore, her death in Episode 18 of The Originals Season 2 played a significant part in the storyline, and was also one of the heartbreaking scenes of the fantasy series.
She met Dahlia, an ancient witch and also the aunt of the Mikealsons. Dahlia removed the hex from Josephine LaRue’s hands put by her mother, making LaRue realise who she was. LaRue knew Dahlia would definitely kill her and asked her to let her play her favorite instrument, the violin, one last time.
After she played the violin, Dahlia used the same bow to slit her throat. In the next episode, LaRue visited the Mikaelson siblings, who realised it was Dahlia’s work. Dahlia, after all, was using LaRue’s body to send them a message, and was finally killed by Klaus.
Episode 19 marked Meg Foster’s last appearance as Josephine LaRue in the supernatural drama. She played a key role until the end of her character.
Other than The Originals, Meg Foster has also appeared in The Scarlet Letter, Pretty Little Liars, and Murder, She Wrote, among others.
