When it comes to supernatural trouble in The Vampire Diaries, the Gilbert siblings often find themselves deep into it.

Whether being involved with centuries-old vampires, or grabbing their attention due to resembling one of their old and important acquaintances from their pasts, to being resurrected and gaining the ability to see dead people, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) didn’t have a quiet moment in Mystic Falls, due to finding themselves in life-threatening events.

While Elena found herself entangled due to her being the doppelganger of Katherine Pierce, Jeremy also found himself entwined in the Vampire-Hybrid problems of their town after he casually tried to compliment the tattoo on Connor Jordan’s hand in Episode 2 of The Vampire Diaries Season 4.

It was later revealed in the season that Jeremy was able to see the tattoo on the Vampire hunter’s hand because he was a potential hunter, who could be trained to become a vampire hunter like Connor was.

More on this in our story.

Why was Jeremy the only one who could see the hunter tattoo in The Vampire Diaries? Reasons explored

In Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries, one of the members of the Brotherhood of the Five, a 900-year-old vampire hunter group, came to Mystic Falls. Connor was the last of the five members. These members had a tattoo on their body, which was also a map that reflected Silas’s story and how to find them and the cure for immortality.

Further, the tattoo also gave the hunters an intense determination to kill vampires.

Connor found a potential hunter in Mystic Falls, who could be trained and made a vampire hunter like him, when he met Jeremy Gilbert. Jeremy did not know that Connor’s tattoo was only visible to him.

Later, in Episode 3 of Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries, Connor explained to Jeremy that he was a potential hunter due to his ability to see the tattoo and offered to train him to make him a vampire hunter. However, he was killed by his sister Elena, which leaves her hallucinating as she suffers from the hunter’s curse after killing a member of the Brotherhood of the Five.

After Connor’s death, the tattoo began appearing on Jeremy’s body due to him being a potential hunter, and also being nearby during Connor’s death. Later, to save his sister from the hunter’s curse, he and Stefan try to complete the map through the tattoo on his body by killing vampires and hybrids.

However, this also increases his obsession with killing vampires, making him dangerous to the Salvatore brothers and Elena.

Aside from Nina Dobrev and Steven R. McQueen, The Vampire Diaries also stars Paul Wesley, Joseph Morgan, and Ian Somerhalder, among others.
