The Chi Season 7 introduced a bunch of guest characters and one among them was Nora, played by Tammy Townsend. The official description of Nora’s character mentioned her as

“a charming and scrappy entrepreneur who dreams of helping people through her business.”

The Chi Season 7 saw the women of the show take the center stage and thus Nora’s addition was significant in terms of storytelling. She was shown not only as someone who wanted the best for her business but also as someone who deeply cared about other people and wanted to help people through her business.

The Chi Season 7 made it a point to focus more on the female characters of the show, as the official synopsis mentions,

“With Alicia at the helm, the pivotal women of The Chi rise to reclaim their power. Yet, as loyalties are tested and new rivalries are stoked, it becomes clear that there’s only one crown and it will come at a heavy cost.”

Tammy Townsend joined the cast of The Chi in the seventh season along with three new faces, Kyla Pratt, Punkie Johnson, and Reagan Gomez. Tammy’s character, Nora, is shown to be a candle maker and has a business of her own. She has appeared in three episodes in season 7, namely, The Block Is Hot, Ready Or Not, and Rebirth.

Nora is shown to be an extremely kind-hearted woman who lights up the space wherever she goes. In episode 10, Nora meets Shaad, with whom she clicks almost immediately after having a conversation and the two end up sharing numbers.

While Tammy is a guest star in the series, she is quite well known for her role as Wendy Reardon on the NBC daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives. She has also starred in the ABC/CBS sitcom Family Matters as Greta McClure, who was the love interest of Eddie and the Disney Channel series K.C. Undercover, where she appeared as Kira Cooper, the mother of Zendaya's K.C. Cooper.

She also guest starred in several other projects, such as Quantum Leap, In the Heat of the Night, Felicity, Walker, Texas Ranger, Friends, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, etc.

More about The Chi

The Chi premiered its first season back in 2018 and as season 7 wrapped up recently, it has been renewed for another season. This makes the series the longest-running Black series that is aired on premium cable. The official synopsis of the show, as mentioned by Rotten Tomatoes, reads,

“The South Side of Chicago carries daily danger, and the smallest and simplest of decisions can have life or death consequences for the residents. Life continues as the kids prep for school and their parents shuffle off to work. The young adults of the area are trying to scrape a living for themselves, while the elders sit on their front porches and observe the goings on.”

The synopsis further mentions,

“The South Side has the potential to crush dreams, and this coming-of-age series focuses on Kevin, a preteen who embraces the normal rites of childhood, Brandon, who makes a leap of faith to succeed in love and life with Jerrika, Emmett, who seeks guidance from his mother, and Ronnie, who is a drifter struggling to be loved. All of them are linked together by sheer coincidence as they seek redemption.”

Over the course of seven seasons, the show has spread its storyline through multiple new characters. Some of them have ended up as series regulars, while others have maintained guest appearances. While Nora’s character did add value to the storyline, some critics have opined that she worked rather as a filler and there was no definite direction that her character was given.

The Chi can be streamed on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME.
