Spider-Noir, the Prime Video series, is releasing somewhere in 2026. Amazon released the first look of the fan-favorite Spider-Man variant during its first look presentation on May 12, 2025. It must be noted that the upcoming series will be a live-action one rather than animated and will follow Nicholas Cage as Peter Parker/Spider-Man Noir.

Cage had voiced the same character in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse; thus, it is unclear if the Spider-Noir show will be connected to the Spider-Verse franchise or not. But regardless of that, based on the first image released, it looks like the people working on the show want to capture the feel and essence of the fan-favorite comic-book character who is referred to as Spider-Man Noir and Spider Noir.

The character made his debut in comics in 2009 as a private detective. What differentiates his variant from other Spider-Men is that he has to operate in a 20th-century New York and doesn't have a no-kill rule.

Readers met Peter Parker/Spider-Noir for the first time in Spider-Man: Noir #1, published in February 2009. This variant of Peter Parker is set on Earth-90214, instead of Earth-616. However, this version of Peter Parker and Spider-Man is very different from the one people were used to until then. These comics were set in the 20th century.

The first few issues were set in the depression era, where Peter is bitten by the spider and his Uncle Ben is killed by one of Crime Lord Norman Osborn's goons. Then, over time, this version of Spider-Man even fought Naz*s of his Earth. But the one way Spider-Noir is different than other Spider-Men is that he killed his opponents rather than having the no-kill rule usually associated with Spidey and his variants.

Spider-Noir's fight with Naz*s is even alluded to in the 2018 movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Right in his introduction scene, Spider-Man: Noir says this:

"My name is Peter Parker. I was bitten by a radioactive spider. In my universe, it's 1933 and I'm a private eye. I like to drink egg creams and I like to fight Naz*s a lot. Sometimes I let matches burn down to my fingertips just to feel something anything."

When asked about the wind following him, Spider-Noir responds:

“Wherever I go the wind follows, and the wind smells like rain.”

In fact, Into the Spider-Verse catapulted Spider-Man Noir's popularity to a whole new level, and this should play a role in convincing fans and viewers to watch the upcoming series Spider-Noir on Prime Video. It should also be noted that the upcoming live-action series is not the only place where we will be meeting the character.

Spider-Noir will appear in Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse as well

Despite loving Across the Spider-Verse, fans were disappointed that Spider-Man Noir sat out the sequel, except for appearing in its closing minutes. Therefore, fans are excited to meet him in the third movie, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. For now, it is unconfirmed if Cage is returning in Beyond the Spider-Verse or not. For a while, the movie did not have a release date.

That was the case until March 31, 2025, during Sony's Cinema Con panel, where the movie's release date was finally released: June 4, 2027.
