Would You Marry Me cast and character guide: Who plays whom in the latest K-drama?

With just one episode, Would You Marry Me has become the latest fan-favorite K-drama. It premiered recently on SBS and Disney+ in selected regions, and the lead stars, Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min, are praised for their performance.

As seen in the first episode, the Love Next Door star is playing the role of Me-ri, a designer who was about to get married. While Me-ri has been handling everything for the wedding event, her fiancé was busy cheating on her.

Me-ri believed he was too busy to help her, but the reality is that Woo-joo was having a secret affair. This broke Me-ri, and to make it worse, she ends up being scammed by the real estate company as well.

1) Jung So-min plays Yoo Me-ri

Jung So-min's Yoo Me-ri is the female lead of Would You Marry Me, who works as a designer in a company. As seen in the premiere episode, Me-ri is a type of employee who only wants to deal with people who care about her work.

At the same time, she was excited about her marriage until a heartbreaking truth came out. Me-ri faced three setbacks in the first episode, but despite that, she remained calm and determined.

The most hilarious part in the premiere comes when she's drunk and misunderstands Kim Woo-joo (the good man) as he ex fiance. And while beating him up, she sat on a cactus plant, forcing Woo-joo to take her to the hospital.

2) Choi Woo-shik plays Kim Woo-joo

Choi Woo-joo appears as Kim Woo-joo, the heir of a famous and reputed bakery, Myungsoondang. His family business has been running for almost 80 years, and Woo-joo has now reached the age where he must start taking the responsibility to lead the bakery and continue the legacy.

In the first episode, Woo-joo is driving on a crowded road when he accidentally hits Me-ri. Thankfully, she doesn't get hurt, but Woo-joo gives her his contact in case she feels something is wrong. The moment drunk Me-ri sees Woo-joo as the man's name, she thinks it's her ex and starts troubling him.

Despite the chaos, Woo-joo helped her and took her to the hospital, and dropped Me-ri at her house. It was a troublesome day for Woo-joo, and the next day, he was shocked when Me-ri asked him to marry her.

As for the actor, Choi Woo-shik has worked in K-dramas including My Beloved Summer, Fight For My Way, and others.

3) Seo Bum-june plays Kim Woo-joo (the ex-fiancé)

Seo Bum-june appears as Kim Woo-joo, the man who cheated on Me-ri. While they got registered as a married couple, their wedding ceremony was pending, and just a few days before the event, Me-ri found out that he had been sleeping with another woman named Jenny.

Woo-joo is quite arrogant and didn't feel sorry after what he did to Me-ri. Not only this, he even went on a trip with his new girlfriend right after the wedding was called off in the premiere of Would You Marry Me. Woo-joo asked Me-ri to submit their divorce papers to the court, which became a key player in Me-ri claiming the luxurious house she won from a lottery.

And now, being a high-ranking official, Sung-hyun is trying to find out everything about Me-ri and her husband. He wants to ensure that the couple is really married and is not involved in the fraud.

However, little did Sung-hyun know that Me-ri had brought another Woo-joo, and the two were in a fake marriage. Sung-hyun will meet the couple in Would You Marry Me episode 2, which is arriving soon on SBS and Disney+.
