On Beyond the Gates, Kat won't listen to Jacob about staying out of the investigation and letting the police do their jobs, but… Kat did catch something interesting in Eva’s hotel room.
New on Beyond the Gates: Katlock

Detective Jacob Hawthorne (Jibre Hordges) has made it abundantly clear to Kat (Colby Muhammed) that continuing to be involved as she is can only lead to a bad place; either she will taint evidence, and a case falls apart like Nicole's marriage OR it will be her that gets arrested instead, for something like breaking an entering, theft etc. Kat said she was too connected to have that happen and that Jacob should stay focused, as her brother-in-law was an investigative journalist. So? These Duprees, I tell ya, ideas above their station. I'd like to tell you that Kat took that under advisement and rethought her existence, but alas, no. Kat upon seeing Eva (Ambyr Michelle) at Orphey Gene’s and on the phone to someone saying that she was going to be there for a few hours, immediately went to Eva’s hotel room and bribed one of the staff to let her into the room. Kat concocted a story about it being her sisters room and she needed to get her a portfolio for some high maintenance client.
At no point did she think that all of this was just making her stick out in the staff member's mind and be very easily recalled if questioned. The bribe of $120, while nice, wouldn't be worth his job. Ok, so now Katlock was in Eva’s room and went hunting, she found a box that, while looking interesting, actually only contained clothes and a book, the very same book that Tomas (Alex Alegria) and Eva were headed to the hotel room to pick up. Yup, through some serious flirt game, Eva has Tomas coming back to her room to get a book that she said she was going to lend him. Does Katlock bother to look around the room carefully, being mindful that the occupant could literally reappear at any time? Nope, but she is wearing gloves, which is some relief.

At the sound of familiar voices in the hallway, Kat followed standard horror movie doctrine: get under the bed, no one looks under there, right? Tomas and Kat talked, and got so close to kissing that I gasped…then Tomas pulled back, he knew it was wrong but let Eva down gently, which was nice, but dude, you totally led her on, but that's for another article. Focus. Kat, while hidden under the bed, discovered a zip-up bag, and while stealthily rifling through it, found gloves and a motorcycle helmet, both in black. The smoking gun. Eva feeling kinda bummed about Tomas being fully into Kat lay down on her bed, so close that we saw the springs move right above Kat. Soon she was getting a call from Laura who needed more of Eva’s tech help and she soon left.

Arising from under the bed, a very proud Kat showed off what she had found to us here at home and smiled before leaving for Orphey Gene’s to plot her next move. Jacob is going to announce to Kat next week that the motorcycle gloves and helmet that they found at Leslie's place are the same ones that the rider had in Laura’s accident. Now I thought police didn't use the word accident, as it implied no one was at fault, the term they use is incident. Nothing about what happened to Laura was an accident. Anyway how does Katlock get into Leslie's apartment to place the evidence? Stay tuned, soap fans, as this storyline is heating up. We just have to hope that none of Kats DNA or fingerprints are near those gloves or helmet. Sheesh…
