We know how Ted can save his marriage on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Ted Richardson is on the outs with the Duprees, and his wife Nicole has put up a wall after the anniversary party. But Ted may have just started to scale the wall.

After the blow-up event of the year, Ted (then Maurice Johnson) and Nicole’s (Daphnée Duplaix) anniversary party, just about every one of the Duprees has given Ted (Keith D. Robinson) the lecture that he’s not the man they knew, and he should be ashamed of himself. Nicole didn't even want to look at him or smell his cologne. So Ted packed his belongings and a couple of bottles of Febreze to tide him over and went to a hotel to stay for the foreseeable future.

Ted has had numerous visitors to keep him in the loop of the happenings in Fairmont Crest. Dani (Karla Mosley) and Anita (Tamara Tunie) popped over for a visit to say “damn you!” and reiterate just how less of a man he in their eyes now. It’s quite the level of hypocrisy from almost everyone, though. Dani shot up Bill (Timon Kyle Durett) and Hayley's (Marquita Goings) wedding and wanted forgiveness for that. Anita has done something truly awful in her past and seeks forgiveness. Ironically enough, Vernon (Clifton Davis) said what Anita did was a whole lifetime ago, and Anita isn’t that woman anymore. Hmmm, ok, same applies to Ted then, right?

Well, it may not all be doom and gloom for Ted; He’s struggling without the love of his woman and truly wants to make amends anyway he can. There have been a couple of moments that make it appear that a reconciliation may not be too far away. When Kat (Colby Muhammed) approached Ted and Nicole at the hospital to tell them of her suspicions regarding Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant), Nicole looked at Ted, and she told him that he had brought this woman into their lives. It was now his job to protect their family from her.

That's a good sign, as Nicole still sees Ted as family, or at least is voicing it now. It was a moment that stood out for me that things may just be ok again, one day soon. Ted ordered a bunch of beautiful flowers for Nicole and had them delivered to her house. The flowers were ones that you would typically see growing in Hawaii. Upon inspection, Nicole found a note saying, “I know you don't want to see me right now, so just listen…” and Ted went on to explain the sounds of the waves in Maui where they met. Nicole looked to be having a happy memory at this, and instead of reacting and trashing the flowers and the note, Nicole reached out and took a flower from the bunch and placed it behind her ears, as we can imagine her doing on that fateful meeting in Hawaii. Hang in there, Ted, you may have just started thawing the ice, and spring may be on its way.

Advice for Ted at this point: Get a protection order against Leslie (Bill can help you with that), and stay away from her at all costs. Also, listen to your daughter Kat, she’s onto something. Oh, and Martin, yeah, he could really do with a father-son talk, for real.
